I dunno, something is just off about Simmons in the NBA even though I love his abilities....

1. His post game is actually very good. At LSU he regularly schooled guys in the post. He score most of his points there.
2. His reach isn't close to Giannis.. but then not many in the NBA are. Giannis has a 7ft 4 reach!
3. He is going to be our point guard not point forward. He is skilled enough that if opposing guards do try to strip the ball... Simmons is going to blow right past them. Regularly saw him doing it in highschool and college where he would almost bait guys into trying to strip him of the ball.

I'm much more confident in his ability to run the team at the point than I am in him as a point forward. He is a natural ball handler and guard especially in the open court.... something the 76ers badly lacked this year.

It's a pity we never got to see it even in pre-season games... but according to Charles Barkley who got to watch a closed scrimmage before the season started, he was in awe of watching Simmons and Embiid out on court together... and this was before Embiid had played a game.

Not high on him but I see two promising things:
- PG, wings and Biid should be a tough line-up to match where they can hurt any team trying to play big or small. Personally, I think it will be better than smallball.
- 1-3 PnR

How are you not high on him?...

He's not high on him because he can't shoot. He wanted Ingram initially. We shall see. He may be right. Time will tell. I however am very high on him and think he's one of the best prospects I have seen.

Yup.

Individually, I just feel both guys upside will be depending on how they can develop their shooting. Shooting plays a big big role in today's game.

I just like Simmons more because he can give you an edge over everyone (a better version of small ball) with my belief that the only way to beat the Warriors is a line up of BS, Wings and Biid.

My preference is not only who's better but more of in consideration of the overall build of a team that can beat the top teams, specially the Warriors.

So between the two, I like Ingram better but not that much because Ingram has also a weird shooting touch that could project to be an inconsistent shooter. So when all things considered, I like BS more.

Going into BS, I really like the idea of runing a PnR with him and the opposing PG. Collapse the D and kick it out to shooter. He is a flawed scorer that I don't think he can score 20+ on ISOs, close outs (opponents will just sag off) or PnR with a 4 (they'll switch) but you can make him lethal if you set him up the right way.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

LOL I love it. Well played Sixers, well played. Amazing coincidence he gets the clean scan the day before the final game of the season.

Given that this came from lebron crony windhorst, I'm guessing Rich Paul/Simmons don't want him to play more than the sixers.

If he was going to get hurt in summer league he would get hurt the first game of the season, makes no sense.

most of us have been saying that since day 1 of BB's announcement. Just because he's the PG of the team doesn't mean he'll be defending PGs

In camp Saric said how good Simmons looked. Barkley said he saw Simmons and said he looked good. During the season Embiid said Simmons was the best player in camp. Do you think Embiid was just talking up Simmons like he did for Saric saying he should be ROY? As great as Embiid looked do you think Simmons really will be a greater impact than Embiid? I'm very high on Simmons and think he can. I don't think all the players would just talk up Simmons just trying to be nice and over exaggerate. I hope Simmons proves me right and is as advertised.

Not true at all. If there a percentage chance he gets hurt in any given game (let's say 1% for arguments sake), then why subject him to the extra risk that comes along with playing in meaningless games?

I think that the confusion comes from this. Generally people say that the position that you play is what you can defend. However, in the case of a point guard, a point guard is really a ROLE more than a position.

If you are handling the point guard duties on offense then you are in fact a point guard, even if you don't defend opposing point guards. This is true for the point guard position more than any other position.

That's why I always say that point guards are born and not made. Just because you are small enough and quick enough to guard traditional point guards, doesn't mean that you are actually a point guard.

I'm a big Simmons fan, wish my Lakers had him, but you hit the nail on the head here.

If we all go out to play pick up basketball right now, we're not just automatically letting the smallest guy on the team bring the ball up the court.

The same applies to all levels of basketball.

Brown clarified in the interview that Simmons won't be guarding the opposing team's point guard. As long as there are 3 players smaller than Simmons in the starting line-up, we should be fine.

On another note, it's exciting to hear they'll be active in free agency this summer. KCP, come on East!
