That's true, and a caveat to that is working to meet the expectations laid out in your contract. I didn't like how things worked out after the Hawks series one bit, but it seems like the "That's life" narrative and "you have to fulfill your obligations as a functioning adult when it comes to your contract" seems to apply to everyone except Ben. It's nauseating because it was handled so poorly, but giving a player, or a person like Ben EXCUSES to NOT carry out his contractual obligation that HE SIGNED is setting up a horrible precedent for future athletes.
I dont know man. But as soon as Larry Sander run away with his contract with the Bucks, the league should have imposed a ban for actions like that. That is despite what ever mental illnesses you’ll reason with.
I agree, these kind of situations is setting up as a horrible precedent for athletes.
Once abused by many, it will destroy the league.
