There is a huge difference between the two.
A re-break or collapse of a navicular stress fracture is a rare occurrence and absolutely would be the end of Embiids career.
Second it was never stated that it wasn't healing properly (which would be a mal-alignment issue, again career ending ) but it was slow to heal.
The navicular in the foot just like the wrist has a poor blood supply and is slow to heal. The fact he isn't having the pain that typically limits players in their return from stress fracture injuries is good. He is not out of woods if that bone never tacts down or shows more signs of becoming sticky he will never play or only last a half season as an NBA player. If Embiid is cleared to play by Dec. he has a good chance of having a career and getting past this injury. If he isn't cleared by then he is likely looking at surgery and a premature retirement.
