Well I messed my back up doing of all things....playing basketball.
I couldn't even stand up straight for weeks, walking like the hunch back of notre dame. Couldn't sleep, cough, or sneeze without pain. Chiropractor was useless, told me i would need a back fusion, but go to get injections in it first before that step. Had 3 injections, 2nd worked like a charm, been fine since but I always have to watch my back.
Honestly if you haven't been through it, you don't know anything about it unless your a doctor (and they really don't know either). Your back is the only thing that just can't be 'fixed', and I will be dealing with it for the rest of my life. Luckily, I was only a few years older than Ben when it happened to me while playing ball, so as the doctor said "you have plenty of muscle tissue back there' so I was fine.
I figure Ben will be fine, maybe it will make him work out harder, heck I know now I have to stay in shape. Until otherwise said by news outlets, I don't foresee a problem, but if we rush him back the Sixers doctors need their heads examined.
Never, ever rush a back. Like ever. You can feel good for a day or a week, sleep wrong, your back is screwed up and your in the same boat...not even mentioning basketball. At this point, we know nothing so no reason to get all upset cause it could just be muscular which is absolutely nothing. But if they mention nerves, of which my left leg and foot went numb, forget about it...thats the season.
