Simmons is much more a 4 than a 3, and will cause spacing issues at the 3 offensively unless your bigs have range - which Sixers bigs don't.
Ingram is a year younger, a much better shooter, and has potential to be a true number 1 offensive player. Ingram-Saric (if he ever comes over)/Noel-Embiid/Noel...
Then trade Oak to Boston for 3 and one of their bigs - Sullivan or Olynyk. Drop off at 3 from last year is HUGE.
I agree its an issue, but lets not front here. Flip flop Simmons/Ingram on Duke/LSU and Duke's still a top 5 team. Im not sure how much better Ingram is on LSU.
Don't think that's true at all. Not only was Duke not a top 5 team, their biggest problem all year was defense, and after Amile Jefferson got hurt Ingram was the one guy who provided anything defensively. Intense competitor. Simmons was the exact opposite. I almost guarantee that LSU team with Ingram instead of Simmons makes the tourney. I can't name the number of the top of my head, but that LSU team had multuple top 100 recruits on that team. Way more talent than anyone gives them credit for. No excuse why they shouldn't have made the tourney in that confrence.
It is worse than this. People want Simmons, comparing him to Lebron. A franchise guy. Well, don't franchise guys make their teams win!?!? Their are only 5 players on the court on each side, after all. Not necessarily champions... But near contenders?
Simmons, this magic franchise guy... Who is going to make the Sixers win... But couldn't make his college team win...
Yeah, that is the ticket.
