And the only way to play all time great defense is to can switch and yet be elite on defense. I believe after Ben, Fox is very close 2nd that fits that bill for the PG position.
On offense, Fox is not yet an all level scorer, but he can be one given his trajectory. He can run PnR. He can space the floor. He will not make boneheaded passes on transition like Ben. He will attack the basket.
Given the overall picture. Your best bet is banking on Embiid developing a perimeter game and Tobias developing into a star scorer.
Kings will ask a lot for Fox. Trading Ben for Lavine is a high risk position for us, given the difference in value and the holes in Lavine’s game.
The Warriors built the greatest defense in NBA history in spite of Steph Curry being front and center. You can still hide a terrible defender in an elite defense.
Fox has been taking some threes, but shooting well below league average at it. That's better than nothing, but I'm not sure how much teams will ever have to respect that shot of his. His shooting profile is subpar so it's not like he may be able to drill them in the future. And I agree that he's an aggressive attacker of the basket, but that skill of his is neutralized by his own inability to hit free throws at a plus rate. He's barely over 70%. All those clunks during a playoff series are going to hurt.
I just don't think defense at the PG position should be placed at a premium. All level scoring and offball spacing are far more important for maximizing Embiid and raising the ceiling for this team IMO. McCollum, Lavine, Sexton, etc. I don't think Fox is as good an addition as any of those guys.
