If nobody offers equal value for Lito, the Birds will move Sheldon to Safety and pimp out the greatest secondary in years with Lito, Asante AND Sheldon Brown.

BTW, equal value for Lito = top-10 pick or a high-quality, #1 WR.

It's entirely possible that neither of those will become available.

In that case, what would you think of keeping Lito?

I'm with you. I am 100% against getting rid of Lito just for the sake of getting rid of him. If we don't get close to equal value, don't move him.

There are 10 offers on the table for Lito.

Six of those are being considered by the eagles, three very seriously.

This is per CSN. I imagine none of these include Fitz.

Having 2 very good CBs for this defense just let's the coordinator (forget his name) be more creative with his schemes. I loved when the Steelers had Woodson @ CB and Carnell Lake @ S b/c it gave them so much flexibility to blitz and create problems for the offense. Keep Samuel and Lito, and add a WR in the draft. If the Smith comes back healthy, he'll upgrade the receivers from inside, and hopefully Reggie Brown takes a step forward with more consistency. Fitzgerald is great, but this defense could be very special with two corners like that.

Move him to safety...who are your safeties? Dawkins and Brown would be a pretty nice pair.

why the hell is everyone so obsessed with moving sheldon brown to safety? HE IS NOT A SAFETY HE IS A CORNER WHO HITS HARD AND SNIFFS OUT THE SCREEN WELL. that does NOT mean he can play safety...

why? he lead the team in tackles and thats it....he had one sack, no interceptions, no fumbled recovered or forced fumbles...im sorry but spikes is highly over rated. they saved 5 million in cap by cutting him plus bradley seems like a nice young mlb. i think there gonna use the money they saved to get fitzgerald or roy williams and if thats the case i dont care if spikes is on the team or not. we cut trotter last year and didnt even need him because gaither and cocong are coming along nicely.

I really like Bradley, but he isnt half of what tko was against the run, and that has been a nagging problem for the eagles in the past. The eagles LBs are very average at this point, but at least they are young. Id love it if we used this extra bank to land fitz. I heard rumors that the cardinals are pushing for 6 a year in the restructure but fitz wants closer to 8, thats way worth it imo. I dont know why they would argue about 8, thats less than javon walker. I would definitly be down with giving up lito and a 2nd if thats all he wanted

the eagles are a weak team in terms of the quality of their linebackers and their run defence. Cutting one of their better linebackers is not going to help the D. So we save 5 mill, but that may go to a WR. Our offence will be much improved. However I am one of those people who feel defence win championships. And cutting tko is not an upgrade for our D.

I am pretty sure that Reid knows football better than you do and has a plan, with all due respect.

Bradley looked terrific in that game late last season. Gaither is going to be a very good player plus Gocong is solid. Their linebackers will be fine.

"The Arizona Republic - The Eagles have had discussions with the Cardinals about a trade for receiver Larry Fitzgerald, according to the Arizona Republic.

One rumored deal has Philadelphia sending cornerback Lito Sheppard and receiver Reggie Brown to Arizona in exchange for Fitzgerald."

Cardinals would be stupid not to do this trade. They land a Pro Bowl Cornerback and get back a WR to compliment Boldin.

and the eagles would be idiots to do it.

the point of getting fitzgerald is to get the wr corps over the hump. fitzgerald is elite and would do that. adding fitzgerald, getting rid of brown, and making god knows who the 2nd or 3rd receiver would be moronic.

fitzgerald, brown, and curtis is a pretty damn good group of receivers. curtis already showed last season what he can do and brown has the talent and ability to be a 1,000 yard receiver.

fitzgerald, curtis, and...??? baskett? lewis? avant? gasperson? not so great.

luckily, i don't believe that rumor one bit and i doubt the eagles would make that move.

i prefered the lito and 2nd rounder rumor.

I would do Fitz for Lito and Reggie in a HEARTBEAT.

Since I would do Fitz for Lito and our 1st round pick, I would definitely do it for Lito and Reggie. Brown is a nice WR, but if I had to choose between giving up our #1 pick and trading Brown, I would trade Brown. We still need help and depth on defense (especially with letting Spikes go), and having our pick at 19 allows us to add another impact body there.

With Fitz, Westbrook, Curtis and - hopefully - a healthy LJ, we will have lots of weapons on offense....and I think Avant or Baskett can do enough as a 3rd WR so we'll be OK. We could even add another WR after trading Brown (we could sign D.J. Hackett or Bryant Johnson, or trade for somebody like Holt - who wouldn't cost us our #1 pick), and still keep our top picks in next month's draft.

hackett and johnson are not as good as brown. in your scenario, the eagles are taking one step forward and like...a step and a half back. it's self-defeating.

you're saying that maybe baskett and avant can do enough...maybe we'll be okay. and then you're suggesting that maybe we can sign one of the awful WRs still available.

what's the point? we already have reggie brown to underproduce. why spend $30 million over 4 years to get even less production from hackett or johnson?

lito and a pick makes the most sense. my feeling is that if a trade does happen, the eagles are going to have the upper hand. everything i've heard is pointing to the cardinals not being able to get anything done with fitzgerald and if they can't get anything done, they really can't demand anything ridiculous for him because they're going to have trouble fielding a team with his $16 mil against the cap this season. i think that assuming the eagles can get fitzgerald, people are going to be delightfully surprised at how relatively little they'll have to give up. they're playing it perfectly. let them keep negotiating and let them keep getting further and further from a deal and let the available free agents that the cardinals can sign keep dwindling. eventually they'll have to make a move. and that plays right into the eagles hands, if we're to assume they are actually targeting fitzgerald.

but anyway, i think trading lito and the eagles number 1/2 WR for a WR is a bad idea.
