Totally fair. He can't sulk over not winning MVP only to follow it up with two uninspired absolute non-MVP performances.Jailblazers7 wrote:I think Embiid absolutely deserves to shoulder a heavy portion of the blame after the last two games. His attitude and lack of spirit is definitely a pattern that needs to be broken.
I don’t agree with all the criticism coming his way but he’s want to be considered the best player in the league and this is the treatment that someone of that stature gets when failure happens.
Yeah, they are calling out a player that played with multiple injuries. It was obvious since the finger injury that he wasnt the same offensive player.eyeatoma wrote:So have we all turned on Embiid now? Jeezuz, it's all coming down.
Agreed, they need to direct their vitriole to the terrible bench, Doc and Harden.Lou_23 wrote:Yeah, they are calling out a player that played with multiple injuries. Some Sixers fans deserve to go back to Iguodala days, what terrible posts.
Butler. Once again, the answer was Butler.76ciology wrote:Joel will retire as a Sixer.
We just need to recalibrate our view on him on defense. He is a plus defensive player but isn’t good to be the full time anchor on defense.
We need a defensive anchor/rebounder that is not Embiid. Then have Embiid, Harden, Maxey and possibly Tobi focus on scoring and being plus defenders.

Still healthier than Nadal though.

Joel has been worshipped by the phila sports media for far too long. The philly sports media has a history of being absolutely brutal on Philly's past franchise stars. Criticism of Embiid is warranted. For some reason I cannot fathom, Embiid largely has escaped signifigant criticism until now. Marcus Hayes' article re embiids shortcomings is directly on point and could have been written at the end of last season. Embiid is an exceptional player, particularly during the regular season. But his flaws are on full display during the playoffs. As Joel tells it, its always someone else's fault. He needs to look in the mirror.

Marcus Hayes is the biggest Sixers/Embiid hater in Philly. Not sure why you think Embiid needs to be criticized here when he did something many players cannot do. To play with the injuries he has had is being a straight up warrior.
Tell me, how can you criticize his playoff performance with the limitations he had? Both were freak incidents, why should he be at fault here? As Jo says, if he doesn't play he's criticized, if he plays and plays like **** he is as well. It's a lose/lose situation.

I think playing Jo at the 4 full time is a very interesting idea.
The problem then becomes who is playing next to him? Horford didn't work out so well. Although how much of that was because of other 3 guys on the floor with them (Simmons, Harris, Richardson) is an open question.

I think Boston is proving that it’s more the latter. Right idea, wrong execution.
We need to get longer and more athletic. Depending on what trades/signings we can make, starting Reed at the 4 on defense, and the 5 on offense may be the way to go. Especially if we trade Tobias for a smaller player, I’d start 3 guards. Harden/Maxey/KCP or Norm Powell? (for example)/Reed/Embiid.
