Dardai has a problem very few Hertha coaches ever had: too many options. He can't play Stocker, Stark, Cigerci, Schelle, Darida and Baumjohann at the same time, even though they all deserve it right now.
Stocker had a strong start to the season, I'm sure he'll get more playing time if he puts in work. That's what Dardai is all about.
Hadn't realized Cigerci and Baumjohann were doing particularly well. Not that I dislike them...Cigerci actually showed some promise during that first season in which I followed BMG closely; the one following that magical final season with Reus/Dante that I only caught parts of; and so will always receive fond feelings from me...just that the talent level for them isn't the same as with Darida, Stoker and Stark. So with Skeljljjljeeljel...Schelle...already doing such a nice job as that more running/linking character alongside them I figured you could lean more on your talent in midfield; especially with your forwards needing all of the help your midfield can give them. But if Stoker's just getting out worked for the minutes that's a fair enough reason to sit him, especially if Cigerci and Baumjohann are doing well in his stead.
Though I would personally really like to see what a Stark/Darida/Schelle/Stoker diamond could do, and not just out of tactical-curiosity...if only you had the CBs to make it work behind them and forwards worth a damn... With a little more cash and somebody who could really attract outside talent you'd be down right a blast to watch and awfully tricksy for the big boys to solve.
( Kruse/ECMC ) -- ( Mehmedi )
------- Stoker ------------
----- Darida ---- Schelle ---
--------- Stark -----------
Platt. - Lust. - (Tah) - Pek/Weiser
I like your Japanese winger and Stoker is quite capable of playing out wide, but I question the defensive security if those two are playing in front of Plattenhart and Weiser on the flanks; so I would just overwhelm the center and allow the positionally free forwards to try and pin the FBs back, while Stoker cheats to the left and Schelle to the right; utilizing an almost lopsided-4-4-2 shape when needing added security in the wider areas...since Kalou and Ibecivic won't pin the FBs as effectively as if you had actually capable players in those spots.
Plus if Mittelstadt proves to be the answer to Germany's LB search like some are suggesting he could become, this shape would really let him take off once he was ready for regular first team minutes.
