Re: Frye is out with Dislocated Shoulder
Suns need to go to Rasheed Wallace or Tim Thomas doorstep and BEG one of them to play for them because I don't see any other players that can replace Frye. If that doesn't work out they have to start both Gortat and MP.

Re: Frye is out with Dislocated Shoulder
Anyone else think Gentry should try Gortat & Lopez together? We have only tried that once and that was when no one was familiar with each other.
Gortat has shown time & time again that he can knock down 18-20 ft jump shots on a regular basis.
We would have to put our trust in Siler as a capable backup center...

But seriously, the Gortat-Lopez frontline should only be used for defensive purposes in case the other team is owning the paint. And of course, they can be used together for rebounding purposes.
Offensively, it might not work out since either of their defenders won't be pulled out on the perimeter like Frye was able to do, so they can sag off more which eliminates the effectiveness of the PnR.
I'd say having Warrick at the 4 is OK. He's just as reliable a jump shooter as either Lopez or Gortat (OK, but not good), but his real value is his ability to just lift off 5 ft away from the rim and either draw a foul or finish.

Re: Frye is out with Dislocated Shoulder
If we have Lopez and Gortat starting together, who is our bench center? Warrick? Siler? LOL
Let go with Warrick starting at the 4, and pepper the defence with continuous pick and rolls.

Re: Frye is out with Dislocated Shoulder
Well, looking at the next 3 weeks which is hopefully the maximum amount of time Frye will be out, we have :
Houston
Denver
Orlando
@Houston
@New Orleans
Golden State
@ Los Angeles Clippers
@ Los Angeles Lakers
Toronto
New Orleans
Dallas
@ Sacramento
By no means an easy lineup, but definitely not the hardest part of our schedule. We have to beat these sub .500 teams regardless if we have Frye or not.

I dont think were in contention so in my opinion we should just try different things with the roster and hope for the best of developing some of the guys we plan to use next year
So the season is over before we even see what strategy the coaches use to counter this injury ? So you are ready to jump on the tank to gain 5 or 6 slots in the draft ? You judged and jury-ed the outcome before seeing any evidence. What if we actually win a few games?
Its plain to see, many are here to rant and rave, pizz and moan. Fine, but dont go crying when when fairweather-ness is questioned, nor the senseless continual non-supported roster shuffling ideas are challenged. (Craig Brackens?

This team has played hard to get to this point. A challenging start, some mid season new faces, and now playing the best basketball they have all yr. Now a fluke injury has sidelined an important piece, at a position of thin depth. But take an important 35 minute starter off of any team contending and just see if they dont flinch a bit. Frye plays a unique role for this team. He is likely more important than what has been realized. Being out just 2-3 weeks was actually much less than many anticipated.
So our back up (Warrick) isnt as skilled as you want. Hak has his moments. There is no questioning his desire. He may surprise us as he has before. Others too, given the opportunity. When these things happen, the WHOLE TEAM has to step up, coaching staff included. I dont have great hopes for the outcome, but I'm not slamming the door on them either. If we can go .500+ while Frye is down, I'd be happy. I dont know if that will be enough to get to the play offs. May be. But I do not think we are a patsy-first-round-fodder club if we get there either. If you overlook us, and we are healthy, you may pay. Getting there just got a whole lot tougher though.
One thing is for certain, Nash, Hill, Duds, THE GORTAT, and the rest of the boys sure as hell aren't giving up. Some of you fans can right them off, its your choice. But dont expect me, and a few others here to put up with your stale, anti-front office, rear-view mirroring, negative rhetoric while this long season comes to an end. Lets see what happens over the next 5 or 6 games before reserving the gallows.
It isnt over till it is.

Enough with the "season's lost, omg! PANIC!!"
We can do this. We have a deep team. We can plug 3 guys into Frye's spot and still have a 10 man rotation. You either plug in Pietrus(to play the Matt Barnes small 4 role) or Chilldress(to play the poor man's Matrix role), or you use Hak.
I think Pietrus or Chilly is a better idea...Chilly in particular. The man can crash the glass and hustle. He doesn't shoot 3s, but he hits the very, very few that he shoots at a decent clip. He is the closest thing we've had to Shawn Marion in a long time. Start him at the 4 and keep the bench chemistry rolling.
We can do this.

Knowing the Suns' luck, Howard will pick up his 18th T against the Suns and then the Magic get spanked inside by the Lakers to keep their streak going.

Well... OKC only took 18 FTs against Memphis. Memphis had 26. Surprise?
There's little chance of winning when the other team has 33 more FT attempts, but the Suns came about as close as possible.

Great post Frank - it is what it is and we shall see what we see - que sera, sera
rsavaj - I agree. Play Chilly at the starting 4, then we have Hak and MP if needed to sub in at that spot. We can play MP at three spots, which is a nice thing to have.
We need to run like hell and play hard team defense. It's all we got and fortunately we have a bunch of tough defenders at present - VC, MP, Chilly, Gortat, Lopez, Duds, Hill (check the bright side piece promoting Hill as first team all-defense this year)
I just worry about Nash being so run down and hurting - but Dowdell and Brooks have both looked good.
If we go down, we go down - juts let's go down swinging
