Hearing that Ty Corbin is working out with TJ individually is good... was worried that he was distancing himself from the team. Hoping Ty is saying to him every day - OK, when you get back to Phoenix, you're the man. Dominate. Kill em!

Plumdog got 4/52, which is 13 per year.

Len gets 13+ a year easily. I'ld be happy to re-up him this summer at 4/64. which is 16 a year. Win/win situation, Len gets paid big a year early, and we dont let him hit RFA.

And if his FG% were closer to .500 in March, the numbers he posted in March are what I hope/think we'll see out of Len once given starter minutes every games--14/11 with a .756 FT% on 5 atts/gm. I'd gladly give him $16M for those numbers.

I doubt he'll be taking as many jumpers as he did toward the end of last season, now that we have our "shooting Bigs" in Chriss/Bender/Warren(back from injury).

And yes, Frank, I am wearing...

...in my expectations/aspirations for Len this next season or two, thus easily worthy of a $16-$17M per contract.

If after a 29YO center who never averaged more than 10/7 in a season can get $16M per, if I'm Len's agent, I'm starting at Max and absolutely NOT considering anything less than 4/$66 or 5/$82.5, if for nothing else than on principle.

I'm so irritated by people who don't have any clue about our team and players.

Are you talking about the trade forum and that Denver comparison?

Yes.

Who cares...everyone is homerish and will back their own players and many just look at advanced stats and not context or the eye test.

If I were looking at our players from a non-Suns fan perspective I wouldn't be overly impressed either. Taking away draft picks and looking at our top-5 players as "assets" I'd say 4 of the top 5 are injury-prone and inconsistent. I really don't know much about the Nuggets to compare them.

probably nothing. He hasnt shown that he's worth the max. So the right move is to let it play out for this season and match anything he gets offered.

IMO based off of what was offered this offseason to other Centers, he WOULD have been a max guy if he was a RFA, and offering him the max today could blow up in their faces. After this season, the suns will look at matching any offer he's given. He's very unlikely to take the QO next year based off of his injury history.

Len has to prove his worth. So in order for the sun's to think about maxing him from the start of next offseason he's going to have to CONSISTENTLY put up 15/10/1.5. Anything less they'll have to evaluate what he gets offered from another team.

Extending doesn't automatically mean giving a guy max money. Getting into contract talks now could give the message that we want you here on this team and would forgo the whole courting process and overpay. I doubt we match a max offer sheet for Len, or extend him one ourselves. He'll probably get double digit millions, but I doubt he'll more than Bledsoe and Knight from us. But, the other part of this is whether or not the Suns want to keep Len. Maybe they've already decided to go after bigger names this coming offseason and want the cap flexibility.

We haven't thrown too much money away yet, I don't see them starting now with Len. If he's in a Suns uni next season, it'll be for a very reasonable deal.

But just look at the STUPID contracts that Centers have gotten this offseason

Noah - 4/72: 31 years
Mozgov - 4/64: 30 years
Biyombo - 4/72: 24 years

Biyombo IMO is the best comparison. He averaged 5.5/5.8 last year.

Len averaged basically double that the last couple months of the season. A max contract is a starting point in negotiations this offseason.....so IMO averting those discussions until your are positive that you want to go that direction is smart.

If this were his contract offseason he WOULD have gotten the max from someone. No need to go there, or even address that now, especially if you are not prepared NOW to go there. It'll just make from a pissed off player who's looking to leave.

letsgosuns wrote:Why is Dragic on that list? That is ridiculous. He had one great game for the Suns in game 3 of the 2010 series against the Spurs. That is all I remember him for. That one fluke year as third team all-NBA was the best year of his career and he never played like that before or since. How could he be on the list and guys like Ceballos, Chapman, Cliff Robinson, Marbury, or even Grant Hill are not on. Those guys I just mentioned all had some of their best years in a Suns uniform and did it for multiple seasons.

I was wondering where you were recently. It was interesting, on the trade forum everyone was getting into arguments because fans were overvaluing their own players, and I mentioned that all team fans do this because we watch our players closely and not other team's players nearly as much (at least 95% of fans). I brought up how fans wouldn't trade Booker for anyone, and then mentioned how some thought Paul George was going to be on the trading block, but the Indy fans would likely revolt if that happened. I mentioned how I quoted an Indy poster who wouldn't trade George for a huge package of assets and he was ridiculed...

Said Indy poster chimed in...

Nah, you did the good thing and just quoted my post, but not attributing it to me. They were blasting the post like crazy though.

And yeah, I was shocked that they were calling Reggie "by far" a better all around player than Paul George. You'd be hard pressed to find any Indiana fan that would argue that, and we would beatify Reggie if given the chance. Reggie was many things, and definitely had clutch over PG, but defense was not his strength. He was feisty, and worked hard there, but he was not very good there.

Dragic is probably on that list because he was the centerpiece of our team that won 48 games...all those other guys were roll players.
