Hope not, he's not a PF. His shot isn't good enough for that, too much paint clogging.

I think someone on ESPN mentioned that Ayton saw himself more of a PF than a C

Devin Booker retweeted Zach LaVine, who responded to Bleacher Report’s article about Karl.

Karl liked Devin’s retweet. On the same night as Karl putting on a Suns Jersey?

It’s very real. The push is now.

Don’t do it, McD. It’s tempting, I know, but don’t do it. The Timberwolves won 47 games. Butler missed 17 games, so it’s reasonable to think they could’ve won 60.

That said, they have Butler and we don’t. We may not get Butler or Kawhi or George or LeBron. If we ink Booker and Towns to extensions this summer, I think that’s $40M a year more.

Or we could savor Ayton’s rookie contract, keep our cap space, and sign someone this summer or next. Ayton might end up better than Towns anyway.

Booker might leave us for Towns if we don’t bring him Towns.

This is crazy.

On another note, I’m starting to wonder how Doncic compares to LeBron at that age. Doncic might be better than young LeBron. He probably is, right?

Again: this is crazy. Good thing I’m not the GM.

the anti-tankers vs tankers debate comes full circle...

top picks = way to get future core players OR trade for established stars...

its the fastest way to get good.... or atleast get assets.

Booker will sign that extension... so he's locked up for long.

KAT will also sign his extension and Wolves will be capped out for a while...

The current rumors are the only way for them to team up

But its not a DEAL breaker... playing together is not their goal in the NBA... its to establish themselves and win as much as possible.

if Ayton or Doncic plays well enough and it improves the Suns... its the start.

I hope everyone realizes that the picture of KAT in a Suns jersey is old. Its from that big rookie photoshoot they did with all the rookies. If you look closely you can see D'angelo Russell's jersey on the chair right behind him.

I think that is absolutely true that the Wolves are "shopping" Towns...but only for a super expensive package.

It is really interesting how McDonough has changed his view about trading the #1 pick in the last couple of days.

Just after the lottery he said something along the lines of "highly unlikely" to be traded and in his latest interview with Woj he is more like "we are open to trade the #1 pick if..."

It is only an small change, but that tells me that he has his eyes in someone like Towns and he probably knows that it can be done.

I am not sure about trading #1 (Ayton or Doncic basically) for Towns, but I am pretty sure that he is the perfect option for this team to be a way better team next season...and probably in the future.

At the end of the day I think I would make the trade. Towns has improved this last season defensively and on offense he is a monster and the perfect modern C.

He is a verified great player in the NBA (every prospect has bust potential), young and we can extend him easily.

Has anyone considered we might be able to offer the 16th pick, the Bucks pick, Bender, Chriss, the 2021 Miami 1st, two of our future 1st unprotected for KAT while also drafting Ayton?
Go against the norm of versatile wings and go for versatile bigs who can stretch the floor. Booker wants KAT, KAT seems like he’d want to be here. He could refuse to sign an extension with the Wolves giving them not as much leverage. Not sure another team could trump that offer for KAT, especially if KAT says he only wants to play for us.

Skeptical about Ayton and Towns together, but Minnesota will not take that deal.

The biggest issue I have with Towns is his name. Just go by Karl. Nobody needs to see Karl-Anthony, ok?

His wikipedia entry says he plays for the Suns *and* Bulls right now, lol.

Thats a quantity for quality deal, and it's not very good for Minnesota. The only way KAT comes to Phoenix is for #1 or Josh Jackson and add-ons. Even then, JJ doesn't make much sense because they have Butler and Wiggins in the way.

If we can get KAT without giving up #1, Booker or JJ sign me up. Otherwise I'd pass.

If there is nothing wrong with Ayton's attitude then his floor would be an athletic KAT. Say no to a Towns for Ayton trade.

You think Josh would rather play with a rookie than Towns?

I think Josh would rather play with someone who plays defense. While KAT is extremely gifted offensely it sure looks like he can’t guard a manhole cover.

Yeah and Ayton is an elite level defender so of course Josh would rather play with Ayton than Towns.

Wouldn't mind either way the goal is to get All-Stars.

I don't really get the phenomenom of bagging star players any time they're mentioned as a trade target.

Well i have read pretty much everything that is out right now about the Wolves situation, an honestly i dont see KAT being moved. I dont think the owner allows it. To me it sounds like GM/Coach Thibs is the one thats going to be tossed. Just like in Chicago, everyone that is working with him is walking on eggshells. There was a couple of very real blow-ups recently, which include Thibs grabbing a computer monitor ant throwing it at a glass door. Word is that people really dont like working with him. Now what is the owner going to do, appease everybody and fire Thibs, or let that chaotic culture continue as Thibs trades off one of the best young bigs in the league?

I really think the answer is obvious, and it would surprise me if Thibs is dumped pretty damn soon, as they would need to get a new GM and a new Coach in before working out players for the draft. I also hear that there could be some interest in reuniting with another recently fired coach......

Its not bagging on him, everyone knows that KAT is a great F'n player that we would have LOVED to have prior to the lotto.

My biggest issue is that we have the top pick in the draft and have the chance to draft a guy that is supposed to pretty much be a more athletic version of him. We have that pick and can draft that guy. Ayton is from here (Somewhat) and wants to play here, and has a built in fanbase already. Sure KAT is buddies with Booker, but who knows where he wants to be. With KAT, we would have to give up quite a few assets to get him. besides the #1, its going to take a package of Jackson/future 1sts and maybe even a Warren for Wiggins (Or Teague) swap as well. And then on top of that, unlike whoever we draft at #1, KAT is in the last season of his rookie deal, so expect to pay the kid $20M+ EASILY (Where Ayton would cost us less than half that for the next 4 years). Thats why people arnt down with the Kat trade, its not because he is a star, its because it would cost us too damn much in the long run.

If we could keep Booker/Jackson/1st and still get KAT, im all for it as im sure everyone would be, but the fact of the matter is that it would cost us way more than that.

Towns offensive numbers are amazing... seriously they are.

Perhaps Thibs defensive approach is simply not suitable for that team....

Wiggins would probably be better on a different defensive strategy as well
