He provides a lot more than Bender. I still stand by my statement that we traded the wrong PF.
And we drafted the wrong two.
Keep in mind, Chris was traded largely due to his pizzpoor attitude. A welcomed departure IMO... but I see your point. Both these kids needed a couple more years of seasoning before they made the jump.
Its a mirror of what I think is the main problem associated with the draft. Often these selections are based upon such a small book of accomplishment, with lengthy chapters on potential and athleticism, and short ones on skill and BBIQ. Take Bridges for example. He has made this jump seamlessly compared to Chris, Bender, and even Jackson. He was a 23 yr old senior. If you viewed Bender as a rookie this yr, you would see a lot of promise and likely be positive for what is to come.
Note on that point... This kid Clarke is a junior at 22, a chronological trait that is a plus. Two more years of instruction and growth. Also... I did not realize he went to school in Tempe.
Yeah, he's likely a Suns fan (Clarke). Not that it matters much but a good story if he came here. And a lot of people don't want to add rookies but want to add productive vets. I think Clarke would be more like a Bridges who would be able to make a significant impact immediately just due to his defense and effort. He will have already played in big time games including beating Zion and Duke h2h with 6 blocks in that game, shooting 70% with a 3 and with the upcoming tourney more to come.
