yeah. I'm starting to get hopeful if Boston keeps the pick. But they could easily give it away for PG/Butler. :-?

ugh

The Cavs have nothing straightaway to give the Bulls from what I can tell. Nothing. Tristan Thompson might be the best young player the Cavs have.

Been saying this all day since I listened to the Podcast yesterday that he said it on. He sounded like he wanted to, too. Stuff like "they're young and it'd be nice to get in on that". If he could play the 5 for us, and can land Butler..something like

Warren + #4 + Mia Pick for Butler

That probably is a good place to start. Might have to throw in Bender or something. But running with

Bled/Ulis
Book/??
Butler/??
Chriss/Sauce
Blake/Chandler

Fill in some holes and that's a team we can run with and get in the top 4 in the West. Right?

You didn't listen to it? The podcast "Pardon my Take". He was being facetious, because he was talking about a "Mount Rushmore of NBA Cities". His 2nd one was Phoenix and cited that it's a young up and coming 'city' and that it'd be nice to get in on that before they really take off, he ahead of the game kind of thing.

Oh. I saw the tweet that referenced what he said. I didn't know the context. That's cool though, minus the summers and plus Devin, hopefully we can turn this place back into a destination for top talent. Great city and great location.

I don't think he wants to go there, or his agent doesn't at least, so he's trying to get them to pass on him. He has to fight for playing time over Crowder and Brown, and that's before they try and get Hayward or another all-star SF. He may have a promise from #4 and doesn't want to risk an injury in a useless workout and fall in the draft. If he goes to a bad team he'll have more playing time, put up bigger stats, and get more attention and even something like Rookie of the Year. That's almost certain not to happen in Boston.

That he wants to get his player playing the game. If he is in Boston he is likely going to be stuck behind Jae Crowder, Gerald Green and Jaylen Brown. If he was drafted by the 76ers or Lakers he would have gotten some playing time and if he was drafted by the Suns or Kings he would likely start before the end of the year.

Well then why do they want a promise from them before a workout? I guess I can understand if he wants to go to Phoenix, or especially Sacramento where they just lost Rudy Gay. But it's also maybe costing him and his agent money.

They also worked out with the Lakers who just drafted Ingram. It will be very interesting to see who we draft and if Jackson drops all the way to 5. That would be pretty crazy. But it's beginning to look like either Boston trades the pick for Butler so Chicago may take Jackson, or Jackson will slip to us.

To me, the whole point is their demand is an unreasonable contradiction so that Boston passes, and a message saying, "Please don't draft me" without actually saying it. You do workouts so someone will be impressed with you to pick you. Same is true if they're not giving Boston his medical info. Doing the opposite makes a team not want to pick you. Like how players have treated Sacramento the last few years.

Only way it makes sense to me is if a more favorable team gave him a promise right above or right below, like Phoenix or the Lakers. I don't see the Lakers promising him with Lonzo around, so it's probably Phoenix.

As for losing money. Consider this: he gets drafted by Boston and doesn't look great so most of his playing time goes to Hayward/Crawford/Brown. Less stats, less attention, no RoY, and because of those things he gets less attention from sponsors. Fast forward to the end of his rookie deal and he's still not getting the minutes and stats he wants. He may get a smaller contract as an RFA from a team who doesn't need him all that much. Other teams may not want to give him a ton because he hasn't proven enough playing behind other, better guys. That contract is much, much more important than a slight increase in rookie scale money from #4 to #3.

Yeah, I thought of second contract while posting that, and that if he got drafted by us, the difference in salary wouldn't be THAT big.

I just wonder why we haven't brought him in. Do we have his medical info? I kind of doubt we made him a promise.

That's going to suck if the pick gets traded and the Bulls take Jackson.

Remember that Boston is currently linked to both Butler and Hayward. so if he is drafted by them he is going to go to chicago and be part of a team that is just starting to rebuild or he will be put so far down on the bench that he wont see playing time till he is 30.
Just say no to idiots!!

I'm up for Jackson, just needs minimum tolerable FT and 3pt % and the rest is ready to go.

If he plays well he can be a bonehead like Barkley instead of Morris.

I'm guessing JJ isn't workout out for Boston b/c he has the guarantee from us or the Kings and would rather play where he'll get more paying time.

Well no matter where he goes in the top 5 he is going to a rebuilding team unless it's the Celtics. I can see him not wanting to go to the Celtics, but less so with Chicago. Sure, they don't have great young pieces but if they make a trade with Boston they probably will...and he could possibly be their "main" guy.

Option B: Trade #4 for Butler (He's a top 10 player and he's locked up). Getting him for #4 allows us to also possibly sign a big name free agent.

Option C: Keep #4 and draft Tatum

I really hope Boston takes Tatum for the simple fact McD's phone will explode with offers for JJ.

First we have Booker being traded. Now we have Melo on the team. Any chance we can hand out pre-draft bans?

What time will the draft start? I saw on the internet it's in 7pm et but does silver usually come out with the first pick at 7 or later?

I would anticipate at least 30 minutes of preview (and lots of commercials, of course).

If I was McD, I would be on the phone with Mini to get the 7th pick.

Then I would dangle Markkanen (7th pick) along with Jackson (4th pick) and a future 1st for Porzingis.

Return to Phoenix Suns
