Suns are taking on two more million next year with Speights for a first round draft choice.

I think I do it just to get another tradeable draft pick

As the Suns would not need their own pick and the GSW pick (though its going to be 25 or lower).

I thought Speights was pretty good player behind Bogut though

I do it

They love mirotic but their window is short with Pau so maybe they would go for a Marcus green and either enis or a lotto protected 1st for mirotic and Mohammed or whatever other salary filler they want.

That deal makes them a better team this year and also adds a future asset in the pick or ennis.

For the suns it lands them a blue chip prospect who fits the system and clears some minutes for the young wings.

I don't see how that makes sense at all. We really expecting Chicago to think "Let's trade our 23 year-old potential stud 4 for Marcus Morris and Gerald Green because we think Pau's window is closing and we have no potential replacement for him..."
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

yeah might be wishful thinking. I love mirotic and maybe Chicago won't part with him but say the suns throw in the Lakers pick maybe they look at a ballance of short term gain (green and morris) combined with a long term asset like that pick or a combo of young guys and it becomes a package they can't refuse.

If OKC get a bit panicky, I wonder if Ibaka would be available.

I'd trade everyone combined apart from Dragic, Bledsoe, Len for him.

Players 5 to 15 on a roster are more replacable all together, than a top 3 or 4 player on a championship calibre team.

OKC isn't gonna trade Ibaka and their certianly not gonna trade Ibaka for our trash.

A stretch 4 with elite shot blocking is every team's wet dream.

If anything, they will just move Jackson and/or maybe Westbrook.

Change it from 2015 1st rd pick to unprotected 2016 1st rd pick and I'd jump on that easily. Is Holiday on a long contract?

Nope. Just for this year. But he's a RFA after this season.

And Speights' contract next season is a Team Option. While Holiday would be a RFA.

I'm sure the Thunder would rather move Ibaka before Westbrook. Ibaka isn't as skilled offensively as you would think, and he's more of a third option while Westbrook is a No 1 option. He's a decent shooter, but he is lacking solid post skills.

I could see the Thunder accepting a deal like this...
Suns get-
Serge Ibaka

Thunder get-
Morris bros
Gerald Green
Suns 1st

They get more offensive power we get better defense.

Thunder also become ton worse. Ask OKC fans, Ibaka is their 2nd most important player after Durant because Ibaka is their defensive cornerstone. Not all teams are ignorant to defense like the Suns, some teams do want to be good defensively.

and you arent getting two teams who are competing for the last playoff stop to trade with eachother. one of the two GM's will turn out looking like a fool.....and if its McD, based on this fan base's response over the past 8 months the majority of us would be calling for his head if we dont make the playoffs.

Thunder would trade Ibaka.. I think with how bad they're playing, they need to make a move but I think they look at Lopez before us.

Problem with trading Markieff is we lose our go-to-guy and our clutch player but we get better at rebounds and on defense.

I think the Thunder are open as well. Just not sure how trading Ibaka makes them better. I am sure they will call up the Nets again asking about Brook for Perkins. Perkins is expiring. Brook is not.

Suns need to do something. I am open for business but it starts with the Morri and Thomas. I just don't like their games

I'd put the emphasis elsewhere, but yeah. I's start with Thomas, alghough I do not believe there is a market for him - at least for anything of significance. Now if we could add the Morri, then we might net ourselves something of value. 3 relatively young guys, with good numbers and extreemly cap friendly contracts should be valuable to some teams. Too bad I just don't see any team out there that would be willing to part with a star, and start rebuilding. Let's hope McD works his magic once again.

Getting the 8th seed is a directive of BoobySarver. The marketing/ticket department has to be losing sleep. Our stands are not full, nor active. Its an dismal atmosphere, coupled with extremely annoying attempts to energize the fans. Its F-n plastic. (granted, this is a TV observation) The good attendance nights are not from more Suns fans... its the opposition's fans that fill the empties.

8th seed to me looks like death by Grizzly or death by warrior.

I don't buy it. Ibaka showed earlier this year that he can't even be a No 2 guy on offense when he had Durant or Westbrook out. He's only getting 14 points a game, they need more scoring in the post. Not saying that a trade with the Suns is the best one out there, but I doubt the Nets trade Brook Lopez just for an expiring (Perkins), maybe if the Thunder included Jackson/Lamb/PJ3 it becomes harder for the Nets to say no.

The problem is, with the current crop of PF's in the NBA right now there is no perfect scenario as far as trading Markieff goes unless we at least make it a bigger trade and getting a starting SF back as well that can score.

Ibaka-Better D and rebounding than Keef, but I hate his offensive game. Just an average jump shooter that can't create much. You can't give him the ball and expect consistent production or big shots like with Keef.
Favors-Would be perfect, but Utah isn't trading him
Jones-Like Ibaka, there would be a drop off offensively
Faried-Again, same with Ibaka. Only difference is Faried is a worse shooter but can at least score inside a little.

I'd be perfectly fine with giving up Markieff for a better defender and rebounder such as Faried or Ibaka only if we got a Gordon Hayward or somebody like that who can start at SF and make up for the loss of offensive production lost by trading Markieff. Unfortunately, at this time, there isn't really a trade where we could get both Hayward and Faried/Ibaka. That's the type of trade that takes us to the next level, and there isn't that much else that we can do. At this point I think what is best (And what McD is doing) is being patient and playing the waiting game. You have to give it time, but opportunities on the trade market will eventually present themselves. That's why we can't just burn our assets now in a trade that we don't really need to make, then in a year or 2 when we could make a big trade we are all out of assets to do so, and still aren't good enough to be contenders.

Patience. I don't think anything big happens soon. McDonough knows what he is doing.

Light the fuse....

The reason for these problems is because $arver decided to make our ticket prices the 5th highest in the entire NBA, with absolutely no reason to do so.

The teams ahead of us have extremely good reasons to have such expensive tickets
Knicks-It's NYC, Melo, celebrities
Lakers-It's LA, Kobe, celebrities
Cavs-LeBron, Kyrie, Love hype train
Bulls-It's Chicago, and they are good and have a household name in Rose

Our ticket prices are higher than every other team. Every damn one of them. Warriors, Mavs, Clippers, Nets, Blazers, etc. are all cheaper. This is a horrible idea IMO and horrible business to make ticket prices so insane when you are a borderline playoff team in a good but not great market with no marketable stars and a dead home arena and you can't get even close to filling the arena up. It is bad. Our atmosphere sucks, and players can feel that. I'm talking about players not just from the Suns, but other teams as well. I don't know the numbers or anything, but I would actually assume that if the ticket prices were lowered enough so that we sold out games then $arver would make MORE money because of all the extra ticket sales. Our arena sucks too, but that's another story.

With Howard down for an extended time we better be putting in calls to Houston about Plumlee for TJones...Buy low, now.

It's gonna take a lot more than that to get Jones. Everyone knows by now that Miles Plumlee is beyond terrible.

Return to Phoenix Suns
