Josh Jackson: Solid game for JJ overall w a bit of scoring, rebounding, and defense. Started the game going 1-6... Still managed to bounce back and get whatever he could at the line despite his shot not falling. Surprised at all the people raising concerns about him - he couldn't finish but he got penetration all he wanted, and getting to your scoring spots effectively is more important than just finishing at this stage. Who else's jaw is on the floor after watching JJ keep up with De'aaron on d???
Marquese Chriss: while marquese is certainly a dangerous finisher inside, his problem is actually getting there. It was hard to watch marquese trying to drive out of post ups tonight as he clearly needs to tighten his footwork, balance, and grip on the ball to prevent getting ripped every possession. Good rebounder and shot blocker, but his limitations on offense that I tried to blissfully ignore last season are slowly emerging.
Dragan Bender: I'm sorry, but the only thing I could think of watching bender trip and fall every other fast break was Shaq screaming "tragic Bronson alert". Still bender is a very smart basketball player. It's just that his skills have yet to match that impressive IQ. Every time I watch Bender, he seems to intrigue me more and more... he moves and passes so well, and his shot is definitely on its way. What really gets me drooling is watching him and jackson play defense together. If Bender can become an offensive threat outside of shooting, they can be a fantastic tandem.
Davon Reed: I love guys who dont get caught up in looking like a star and just put their heads down to work. Davon clearly knows his niche and played to it beautifully tonight. Those back to back 3's in the first shook me out of my offensive draught daze, but he really impressed me with his solid line drives and fundamentals. He seemed a bit heavy footed defending Fox, but who isn't?
Fox: Better than Lonzo.
