Just a trade idea, A 3 way with New Orleans / Phoenix/ And Memphis. ( To help Griffin try and convince Davis to stay).
https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7195639 .( ***also Jackson to New Orleans).
In this trade, We trade Warren and the Milwaukee pick to Memphis.
Memphis then trades Conley to New Orleans.
And New Orleans now has Conley/ Jrue/ Jackson/ Zion and Davis.
We do this trade basically for cap space. But also as a favor to Griffin.
***Which, When/If Davis is moved, We get a piece or two from the team that receives Davis. For helping to facilitate Conley ( Jackson) to the Pels. So For example:
IF New York: Trier/ or Knox( from Phoenix) and a 2nd ??
IF Boston: Theiss, And the Memphis pick ( Owed to Boston). At which point I'd then offer Memphis-
Okobo/ 6th pick/ *** Memphis' unprotected pick back from Boston ( to be used next year in a much deeper draft)/ and a Phoenix 2021 unprotected first for the 2nd pick ( Morant).
So essentially, They'd get a good young rookie guard prospect, and 3 lottery picks in exchange for Morant. And they could still select Garland/ White/ Hunter/ Culver, etc. With the 6th pick.
IF Lakers: Ball, And the 4th pick rerouted to us. (****And we also send The Pels Jackson and a future first in exchange for this package****).
We use the 4th pick on Garland or (Reddish (, as a Flier prospect). And the 6th pick on Clarke or Kabengele.
Or we can try and offer a new package of the 4th pick/ 6th pick/ ( Reddish and Garland)Or they can use the 4th and 6th pick on whoever they like really???
Plus a Phoenix unprotected 2021 first in exchange for the 2nd pick- Morant???
( Morant is great) But for example: Garland and Reddish, plus a future lottery pick would be quite a haul for them too. I think that they'd strongly consider it.
And IF they say yes, As an example, They'd now have a starting 5 of :
Garland/ Reddish/ Jackson/ Jackson Jr / Valuncias. A lot of cap space, and a 2021 unprotected Phoenix first to offset what they owe Boston too.
So They turn one really good prospect, into 2 good lotto prospects and an unprotected first.
Then we use our cap space on veterans in free agency.
***If the Pels would rather have Warren and Memphis, Jackson. That's fine too. We can switch them out like this:
https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7195651.
Memphis- gets Jackson and the Milwaukee pick.
New Orleans gets- Conley/ Warren/ and a future conditional first.
Phoenix gets- 17 million in added cap space, Giving them a total of around 25 million for free agency.
They acquire this by moving both Jackson and Warren, But not taking any salary back.
Now we have enough cap space to offer around 12 million to either Beverly or Collison, and will still have enough left over to offer one of Thaddeus young, Aminu or Jamychal Green a contract around 12-13 million.
And can then use our exceptions on shooters, and bench depth.
