I think we should just keep Amare. Do we have risk? Certainly, as he could get injured again......play out his contract and walk.....etc.
We still have the possibility, assuming no injury, of a sign and trade as we can offer him the most money. I just don't think you do a deal for AB, Wright and Marco. Wright will end up being just an ok player, nothing special. The NBA is littered with high draft picks who never did anything of merit. Marco is a nice role play and you can always find this type of player via free agency. Sometimes we tend to get excited by 3 for 1 trade offers. I think this trade boils down to Amare for AB and that makes no sense. The Warrior fans overvalue him. He's a nice player and I would love to have him. However, this is not a player that will ever be an "all NBA" type of player as is Amare.
Warrior fans should certainly worry about his injuries although he clearly has come back from the knee injury and was an all star after the injury. The eye injury is serious, but more of a fluke. Wearing goggles will eliminate further issues.
I can understand why the Warrior fans hope to do a trade for pennies on the dollar but it just won't happen. Sarver and Kerr know they are risking the rest of the fan base by giving away Amare. It just won't happen. It's funny but the Warriors board seems, in general, to make Don Nelson out to be this incredible genius and will school Kerr on the trade. Because he could take advantage of Kerr doesn't make him a genius. The Warriors will continue to be an intertaining thing, much better than we are, but they won't advance far in the playoffs and I contend they won't make the playoffs with their current roster. Again, I would much rather have their team than ours although if we keep Nash and Amare, we can make the playoffs.
So, as others said, we make a play for Tyson Chandler. Yes, I hate is contract but it is not like we are a destination for any of the 2010 free agents.
