Gun to your head, would you rather have Kolek or Ajay Mitchell? Also which of these two combos would be more appealing to you?
Kolek/ Dunn.
OR
Mitchell/Dunn.
I'm not that knowledgeable about college players to be honest, I wrote Kolek for 29 because he's been tied to the team and might slip to the end of the first round.
I think we're using Dunn as a trade bluff. It's too much of a coincidence for the conspiracy theorist in me that the Knicks are reportedly high on them, we're reportedly looking to trade down, the Knicks have two first rounders late in the first, and now we're tied to the guy they want.
Yeah, I'd be surprised if we took Dunn. I think we would rather throw people off of us wanting Kolek, to possibly prevent someone from trading up ahead of us to take him. I could see Utah really liking Kolek. And I know Orlando and Miami do.
Don't forget Milwaukee and New York possibly as a more traditional complimentary backcourt playmaking option to their dominant offensive scoring guards they both feature. Miami has Dillingham and McCain at the top of their point guard lists, But also is really high on Ware and Missi as potential options that'd allow them to have Adebayo play at the 4 for a more dominant frontcourt duo.
We also love McCain too and actually have him above Kolek on our draft big board, but understand that outside of an anomalous move up ( to the 10-14 range) into the lottery, he's far outside of our reach. Me, I'm greedy and want a trade back with the outlier hope of Kolek and Missi or Kolek and Dunn somehow becoming suns players in a trade back scenario.
Otherwise some other combo of Missi/ Mitchell, Dunn/ Mitchell, Ware/ Kolek, Ware/ Mitchell, Tyler Smith/ Kolek, Tyler Smith/ Mitchell, etc. But again am flexible in my combinations because I also have Zyon Pullin fairly highly ranked on my big board of guards, and am also open to names like Enrique Freeman and Adem Bona as potentially strong defensive alternatives to Missi and Dunn.
But I would absolutely prefer to try and maximize this draft to walk out of this draft with no less than 2-3 young athletic prospects to energize our listless bench.
