This thread allows those fans of the X's, and O's to post what they would do if they were the Head Coach of the Phoenix Suns, and was given the job to lead this roster. (No trades etc.) How would you set your lineups? What kind of offence would you run? Defensive schemes? Who will be your go-to-man? etc. etc.
Feedback on each other's ideas would be nice. Both positive and negative.
I'll go first.

My offensive philosophy is to utilise the art of screening. Whether it be setting a screen to initiate a Pick and roll play, or screening off the ball to free up an open shot
Our go-to play would be the pick and roll. Dragic's job as the ball handler is to attack the screen. By using the screen he has three options, take the shot himself if he is open, find an open three point shooter in Dudley, Johnson or Beasley, or feed it to the rolling Gortat/Beasley. It really is that simple. Here I am giving Johnson heavy minutes due primarily to his three point shooting ability, which no one can deny that he has. Both Wes and Dudley would be stationed in the corner when we run this play, so when the defence collapses, they would have easy shots if Dragic decides to pass it.
Our secondary go-to play would be run for Michael Beasley. I am willing to give Beasley a chance here to prove himself as a starter, by playing him as a four. However, his role in the offence is more suited to the three, but whatever. By utilising the off ball screens on the weak side, or even as an extension of the pick and roll, the offence would aim to find Beasley cutting to the basket for lay-ups, or curling off screens for jumpshots, much the play designed for Michael Redd when he was with us. We also would have a few post-up plays for Gortat run if neccesary.
Bench
Unfortunatly for me as Coach (wink), our bench is probably the most Offensively challenged bench in the whole NBA. Still, it is still my Job to try and get some life out of this bottomless pit of a bench.
Basically our bench unit would be based around a similar system to the Princeton Offence - a myriad of off-ball movement, and a high volume of passes. By continuour ovement of the players, we are able to create alot of passing options OUT of the low block, which would be our first target via and entry form the wing.

In this video, O'Neal would play Ernie Johnson's role, Telfair Jordan's, and Brown Eric Snow's.
The play show in this video would be our primarily used play.
Defence
More to come another day when I can be bothered.
