Daniel Bryan + Wyatt Family

Post#1 » by ReturnofMVP3 » Thu Jan 2, 2014 12:40 am

I have seen so much negativity about this story line over the last few days I wanted to make a thread about it somewhere .

Of course this could be horrible if booked wrong, for example if they did the obvious Bryan is heel now and we have to live with it type of deal. Though I think this is far from where they are going, or at least I hope.

There seems to be a consensus that Bray Wyatt is a clear heel but I think this is far from true. In his debut he targeted Kane saying he isn't a demon from hell, and just another man. After their match at Summerslam and his absence Kane returns as a corporate tie man, far from a demon. Bray was right all a long.

Then with Bryan, he wanted him to join the family so they could "take down the machine". What is this machine? The Authority. Bray saw Daniel struggeling week in and out getting his ass handed to him. Bryan never asked for help during that time so Bray beat him into realizing he needed it and together they could do it. Maybe it comes off as a villain like but it sets him up as the cult like antihero.

Fast forward to now and people think that Bryan is going to get buried and booed but he could very well transform under bray as a ruthless hero who has people behind him to stop any outside beatings by the likes of the shield for instance. I think if they go down this path Bryan could take it to the next level, not just the weak underdog who over comes the odds but the solidified star.

Fast forward to Wrestlemania and you can have Triple H vs Bryan, and bryan can finally take down the machine OR he wins the royal rumble and goes on to win the title from a Triple H backed player (hopefully not Randy Orton at this point).

So concluding as long as they play this right Bryan, and the Wyatts could add so much dimension to their characters because of this. Then again maybe they will bury Bryan, but I hope not.

From the very beginning of the Wyatt's debut I've always said that they will be the ones to take down HHH. Adding DB to the mix only strengthens that belief for me. I do think they will do this as heels, though. If the fans eat it up, eventually WWE will turn them.

That's certainly an optimistic take on it. But I think a general rule should be that expecting WWE to produce a layered, nuanced story is a bad one.

Sounds cool and I wouldn't be mad at it, but one of your details that support your theory isn't really true.

After The Wyatt's took Kane away, when he returned at HIAC he returned as regular old Kane and attacked Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, who were beating down The Miz. It was The Authority who converted Kane to the corporate guy.

Plenty of storylines have potential, how they're handled is all that matters. I just don't buy this being a spark plug for Bryan rallying against the Authority (with the Wyatts). He submitted to them, he gave up, he begged to join them, that's not something to root for. That's a man that's been beaten when his whole shtick is that he doesn't give up. You could make a story about how he overcomes and yadda yadda, but I'd prefer they not make him like a punk first. This is character development that no one wants to see and it's happening to a guy everyone wants to see as the top guy. How long does he have to wait to get his comeuppance?

My main fear with DB is that they're going to wait too long to finally give him what he deserves and the fans won't care as much at that point.

My fear is that this is being done to diminish DB so that the WWE can promote the stars they want

This, the pessimist in me says this is just Vinnie's way of punishing DB for all the cheers he steals from Cena/Orton.

The optimist in me sees this as a way of getting DB and Bray to take down the Corporation and HHH so he can get off TV and focus on his new job of making creative have direction and continuity.

The truth is probably close to no one actually knowing whats happening and they are just playing it by ear.

I don't think there's a chance this is a way for Bryan to get to the Authority. He literally "lowered" himself by giving in to the Wyatts. He put himself in a subservient role, there's nothing worth rooting for in that. The only hope is that you have continued tension from the group all the way to the Rumble, where they question his allegiance. And just when he has their trust, he turns on them at the Rumble and wins the whole thing. Then he can beat Wyatt at EC and go in strong for Mania.
