There is an unsubstantiated rumor on another forum that Minny & Denver & Portland have a thing going on. The long & short of it is that Melo is KP's target.
With LeBron, Bosh, Amare, (and possibly Wade) all looking likely that they will be moving on to new teams - Denver is thinking that they ought to move Melo now and get value out of him before he opts out and leaves next summer. Besides, outside of Melo - Denver is a bad team. They need to blow it up and rebuild. Denver even has a thread discussing it....
http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1006223&start=30Now assuming any of this Melo stuff is legit.... I thought of one more reason for Denver to trade him to Portland. Mark Warkentien.
Mark Warkentien (Denver's GM) lives in Portland and has been very open about wanting the GM position for the Blazers. If he convinces Denver's management that it is time to blow things up and save some cash - they may be open to trading Anthony. Wark trades Anthony to the Blazers before the draft, knowing Allen will fire KP imediately after the draft and that he is the #1 canidate for the job.
This scenerio is at least plausable. The end result would be Wark trading Anthony to himself.
