It sounds like you've been vacationing in Magical Christmas Land. If you think this is anywhere near an accurate valuation for a TPE, no wonder you prefer it over Aldridge.

If you are very, very lucky, you'll get Okafor by himself for that TPE. More likely, you get nothing of any significance.

Wasn't part of the problem for Bosh in Toronto that he had to fill the center position. Trading Oden for Bosh creates the same situation here (assuming I heard correctly). I agree with cucad though that Toronto does have some leverage, particularly knowing Portland has no way of signing Bosh without a S&T. I wonder if getting out of Calderon's deal sooner is an option? As much as we dislike it, if it brings us Bosh, perhaps we do it and swap Miller for Calderon? If Portland was somehow able to keep Aldridge, holy cow!!! The Blazers could even look to move Camby... or leave him on the bench JUST in case. I can't imagine the Raptors would be interested in something like Przybilla, Webster, Bayless, Miller and maybe a pick or two for Bosh & Calderon?!?!? With Webster's contract, they don't really save any money on Calderon's contract so... Hmmmm

So people here freely throw out deals of expirings and Rudy for Collison and a crappy contract like Posey, and think that's going to land them Collison, but taking on a much bigger contract in Okafor without N.O. taking on any salary is met with magical christmas land. Hey, maybe it's not the value, maybe they get Okafor by himself. Perfect. He still likely fits better next to Bargs than Aldridge does. So it still works out for Toronto.

Maybe you get nothing of significance. But Aldridge gives you 80% of what you;ve already had, which is a crap team. At 11 million a year. Now why would they do that? Oh, because they can move him later. Maybe. Do they want to worry about a poor fit and potential trade later, or just cap space(TPE) to try to use otherwise? Hey, some would prefer to build with Aldridge there. Just giivng my opinion. Trying the same thing, but worse, again there is incredibly stupid.

Here we go. KP Prichslaps the whole league

Trade 1:
PHI out: Brand + Iggy
PHI in: Pryzbilla + Aldridge + Freeland rights + #22

(PHI rebuilds around Aldridge+Turner. I don't think this is legal due to BYC status though..)

Trade 2:
CHI out: #17 + Hinrich
CHI in: Rudy + Miller + #44 + Claver/Koponen rights

(CHI cuts costs at the PG position with 1 year left on Millers deal and gets a coveted wing guard)

Trade 3:
TOR out: Bosh + Hedo
TOR in: Brand + Webster + Cunningham + #17 + POR's 2011 1st

(TOR knows they are losing Bosh. Perhaps they dislike Brands contract but they see a fit next to Bargnani and breath a sigh of relief over moving Hedo)

Final POR roster:
Hinrich - Bayless
Roy - Iggy
Batum - Hedo
Bosh - Pendergraph
Oden - Camby

There is an unsubstantiated rumor on another forum that Minny & Denver & Portland have a thing going on. The long & short of it is that Melo is KP's target.

With LeBron, Bosh, Amare, (and possibly Wade) all looking likely that they will be moving on to new teams - Denver is thinking that they ought to move Melo now and get value out of him before he opts out and leaves next summer. Besides, outside of Melo - Denver is a bad team. They need to blow it up and rebuild. Denver even has a thread discussing it.... http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1006223&start=30

Now assuming any of this Melo stuff is legit.... I thought of one more reason for Denver to trade him to Portland. Mark Warkentien.

Mark Warkentien (Denver's GM) lives in Portland and has been very open about wanting the GM position for the Blazers. If he convinces Denver's management that it is time to blow things up and save some cash - they may be open to trading Anthony. Wark trades Anthony to the Blazers before the draft, knowing Allen will fire KP imediately after the draft and that he is the #1 canidate for the job.

This scenerio is at least plausable. The end result would be Wark trading Anthony to himself.

Haha what a sleezeball. Melo is a player I hadn't even really thought about. Anyone speculate to a possible trade scenario?

If Bosh is the target, and Rudy, Pryz, and Bayless plus Euro's/picks and cash were enough to get us Bosh, we could then package Miller and LMA for Gilbert Arenas (would need $1mill+ for salaries to work - maybe Quinten Ross?). Lots of speculation, but DAMN - that would be a Pritchslap for the ages.

Arenas/MLE/Mills
Roy/Webster/Quinten Ross
Batum/Webster/Cunningham
Bosh/Camby/Pendergraph
Oden/Camby.... SHAVLIK RANDOLPH!!!!!

Anyways, like Arenas or not - that's a pretty damn good starting 5.

Wild dreaming and those trades are poor value for the other teams.

Almost all Collison deals discussed on this forum hail from Magical Christmas Land, too. Certainly Rudy + expirings for Collison + bad contract falls in that category.

If it turns out that Aldridge/Bargnani doesn't work out, I would much prefer to move Bargnani, myself. Aldridge is a guy who can fit with a lot of guys. It's Bargnani that has trouble playing with conventional PFs, and I wouldn't want to play Bargnani at PF.

it comes from a Minnesota radio guy that most of the Wolves board posters deem unreliable and who later, 'withdrew' his remarks

furthermore, the rumor has Melo going to Minnesota, not Portland

I glanced through the threads in both the Minny and Denver forums and never saw the Blazers mentioned once. I have no clue where Tester saw anything that would 'allow' him to say: "The long & short of it is that Melo is KP's target."

The thought of Melo in a Blazers uni makes me ill. I have always thought that Denver's recent success was totally due to Billups and nothing to do with Melo. He doesn't shoot well, but he does shoot a lot. And that crap-eating grin he always has... Blech

If the draft passes without anything special happening and KP still has a job I will seriously start to believe there is a post-July 1st deal in the works.

http://www.twolvesblog.com/

It was from Paul Allen at KFAN (not the Blazer's owner) who is supposedly close to the Minnesota owner. It possibly involved 'Melo but later he retracted a bit saying he shouldn't have come out with anything.

I'd love Melo on this team. Kid has star power, continues to improve, and puts points on the board with swagger. With defensive players around him along with Roy and either Oden or LMA (whoever would remain) that'd be amazing. If we traded LMA he would probably be playing the 4. Sweet.

I saw that, didn't know if he saw PDX linked elsewhere. As it is, I'd love Melo on this team. He improved greatly around Billups, and I imagine around Roy, he would as well. Doubt it happens, though.
