Oberto isn't really respectable in terms of player contribution on court. That is what I meant about the respectable part. Like I said "he is a role player that understands his limitations and does his thing solidly." At the very least, he is an upgrade between Booth and Simmons. (Even though, Simmons can be better due to age factor though). Image

Just to be honest, I would be disappointed if Petrie brings in Oberto other than a vet min and impedes either Hawes/Thompson's minutes.

Other than that, I don't really see this move other than "meh".

Yet, it's the kind of "upgrade" that will mean NOTHING to our success or failure. Like I said, it's going to take more than the min if the Wiz offered their bi-annual. That tells me Petrie may have offered a portion of our remaining cap space. Even if it's for the min. that's almost 2 million off our remaining cap space between he and May leaving it at a grand total of 4-5 million? Don't expect any big trades with that space.

I see the negatives because I've seen the same thing go down the last couple of years. Old guy in front of young with the focus on winning unable to really be used as a legit reason as to why. This is the kind of move that will most certainly glue May and Brockman to the bench.

Then you don't have to worry about it. Petrie isn't dumb to bring in any type of player just the sake of bringing in. I don't classify Oberto as a respectable veteran other than a limited role player. Oberto did nothing to merit to earn the bi-annual IMO. So, I don't see the Kings looking much into Oberto.

If Petrie did bring him in with the bi-annual, I may start conceding to the dark side *cough*SKZZ*cough* Image

That may be true if our coach is still Reggie Theus or the old guys (if we bring them in) are still serviceable to play at the level as the kids or higher. Which I doubt anyways.

Yay! Now all we have to do is stash Mikki Moore, Maurice Taylor, Juwan Howard, and Slava Medvedenko on a far off island so Petrie doesn't get any whacky ideas. ;)

I'd actually like to add Rasho Nesterovic to a vet min. deal. The NBA would cover a large portion of that deal, since he's an OLD vet. Good deal for the Kings and we get a legit 7 foot back-up to Hawes.

I give you one thing:

The Maurice Taylor one was one of the most randomness move Petrie has done. haha I even forgot why we signed him in the first place.
