Oberto isn't really respectable in terms of player contribution on court. That is what I meant about the respectable part. Like I said "he is a role player that understands his limitations and does his thing solidly." At the very least, he is an upgrade between Booth and Simmons. (Even though, Simmons can be better due to age factor though).
Just to be honest, I would be disappointed if Petrie brings in Oberto other than a vet min and impedes either Hawes/Thompson's minutes.
Other than that, I don't really see this move other than "meh".
Yet, it's the kind of "upgrade" that will mean NOTHING to our success or failure. Like I said, it's going to take more than the min if the Wiz offered their bi-annual. That tells me Petrie may have offered a portion of our remaining cap space. Even if it's for the min. that's almost 2 million off our remaining cap space between he and May leaving it at a grand total of 4-5 million? Don't expect any big trades with that space.
I see the negatives because I've seen the same thing go down the last couple of years. Old guy in front of young with the focus on winning unable to really be used as a legit reason as to why. This is the kind of move that will most certainly glue May and Brockman to the bench.
