Aside from being a stick that may never become a center or hold up...
I've only seen this from Wasserman so far though
Not sure why you keep saying this. Does he need to become a center for some reason? The usual knock on a big man forced to play center is 3 things
1. Can't dribble
2. Not fast enough to defend on the perimeter
3. Can't shoot
I think Chet can do all 3 of those things, so kinda unsure why hes either forced to play center or bust. He's the exact kind of fit we need next to Sabonis. Literally covers all of his weaknesses day 1.
I've seen you throw around pairing Turner back up with Sabonis. Chet seems to have the floor of Turner, but a much higher ceiling due to his passing/ball handling abilities. Of course it would be better if you could add 25lbs of muscle, but aside from that I couldn't create a better fit.
The only reason I like Turner is because he is qualitatively the best player available IMO in our range that would be available (dont think Bey would). Better than Grant, Duarte, Brogdon for example.
I'm not hating on taking Chet, but man I would be wary of him falling like that, and I have always been flabbergasted at the notion of trading up in this draft for him or limited offense Jabari. We're fine drafting in spot. Chet is talented, for sure, if Monte feels good about it, fine.
Chet seems very boom or bust with that body. I think I just assumed he would be clunky defensively in space since I haven't really studied him, but, I don't know if I would be more wary of that unprecedented body breaking down constantly cutting etc on the perimeter vrs being beaten down inside
