I think Jimmer teammates are horrible because there is no way to get any kind of rhythm playing with him. You don't know where your shots are going to come from. Jimmer does not utilize the defensive attention he receives to get them open looks. They aren't great players but when the entire team is focused on you at least set someone else up for a open shot.
My thoughts about Jimmer is he struggled to break people down when facing better defenders. Which resorted to horrible shots. He might be able to do some stuff at the NBA level but he is going to have to change his game drastically. Right now he is Gilbert Arenas and not the healthy guy scoring 28 a night.
I have a feeling Jimmer is going to go to a team and instantly take the most shots per minute on the team. I don't think he knows how to truly effect a game outside of shooting.
That last Florida game was an outlier in many respects. It's the first time all season that BYU failed to have at least two people in double digits. Many nights, they'd have 3 or 4 players in double digits. BYU usually scores in the 80s, so you know it's not all Jimmer. Jimmer's had a number of high assist nights. He's a much better playmaker and passer than most give him credit for. Also, this is not the first time Jimmer has faced Florida or other big conference teams, but it is the worst performance he had against such competition. He had an off night - it happens. Seemed like he was pressing way too much, not playing his usual smart game (although he is good for a couple of head-scratchers each game, but not too many really for a guy carrying that kind of load). If you look at previous games against Florida (dropped 37 on them in last year's tourney in a double-OT win), or against Arizona (49 points last year, 30+ this year, both big wins), all on terrific shooting percentages, its clear that it's not as simple as Jimmer not being able to get it done against good teams or good defenders. He's seen the best of every team's defensive efforts and tactics game-in and game-out, and found a way to carry his team to 32 wins this year.
It will be very interesting to see where he's drafted and how that team will try to use him. I could see a range of outcomes, from sharp-shooting role player to starting PG for a good team. Time will tell.
