Him ranked #1 has a lot to do with the other players in his class. If I had to put money on a prospect it would be Bamba but after that the high-end superstar talent has yet to reveal himself and Porter has the best argument to become one for the time being (behind Bamba), until someone else shows up in college. He's not on Bagley's level as a talent but neither is anybody else in his class (again, execpt perhaps Bamba) or in the 2016 class (excluding Giles considering the circumstances) - at least before we saw them in college.

Porter is going to be an excellent scorer at all three levels. For him it is about tightening up his handles so he can get to his spots consistently - something he has yet to master - and changing his attitude towards defense. On offense he is an opportunistic playmaker who creates off of being a constant scoring threat but that's definitely not bad for a 3/small-ball 4. In fact he has indeed a lot in common in terms of playing style/quality (on-ball scorer, can isolate, score at all three levels, playmaking revolves around gravity/breaking down defenses, potential as a rebounder) and question marks (ball handling and breaking down defenses off the dribble, consistent defensive effort) with a young Durant except that he isn't as athletic (which makes him an inferior but still really good prospect).

Sexton putting on a show in the 3pt shooting contest on CBS. I didn't know that was a strength of his.

Beats Trae Young in the final rd.

Marines 3pt Championship apparently but all the big guns were in it.

He can definitely shoot well (although he's not an elite shooter). Just prone to taking tough jumpers at times and first and foremost he loves to attack so it might give you that impression.

Didn't know that Marvin Bagley is already 18 years old, if he'll be in the 2018 class he has a similar situation as Josh Jackson. Will another year at HS do him any good if he's already so dominant?

Really? Doesn't seem to be much depth and the guys at the top don't wow you either imo

The following year could've worse but at least you got Bagley and Zion

I think Fultz is a better prospect than any of the ones in 2018, but Doncic, Porter Jr, might be better than the other ones in this year's top5.

I am leaning your way after watching more though, I don't see many 1&done types or guys that are gonna have that top flight potential, even I have doubts about Luka and he will likely be nº1 in my board without question all year long.

Edit: I am just assuming he'd try to be 1 and done, but most likely seems like a long term college player

depends on what Duke has, they might need him to play heavy minutes and he is a wing so he might get some hype and leave early, but yeah, If I were to guess I'd think he is a long-term player, at least 2-3 years.

As for the NBA, depends on how much he can improve his physique but I am not so high on him, he looks like a gunner that can't do much more than shoot the ball and doesnt have much positional versatility, Slo-mo is a point-forward and he very much is a 0 offensively if he doesnt get to touch the ball and pass, Trent can probably at least shoot and he is more of a wing while Kyle is clearly a 4 if he ever works out, I don't see it.

I don't even know honestly, not many of the top guys entice me, and of the possible returnees, nobody is a high ceiling guy either.

Doncic will be 1st, after that I am not sure, I like Carter, I do like Robert Williams if he shows signs of improvement overall, but of the top guys from the HS class I am not in love with anybody, and the guys I like the most, like Carter, and Quade Green, Petty, Troy Brown Jr, Preston, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, etc aren't high upside guys, but they have an all-around game.

Thanks, I am conflicted about it though, we didnt play one good game in the whole tnmt and I was driving the Gonzaga train as the best team in the nation since last summer, a little bittersweet, but that's normal I guess?

Winning last year and losing this one would've made more sense to me, but things don't go that way sometimes.

I guess maybe we will be competing for another title in like 3 years or so, although next year it's gonna be a weak one and if Berry and Pinson come back, big if, the team could be good enough to at least be a top3 seed in any region.

Ikechukwu Obiagu is going to be good on Florida State. I think he'll get drafted next year.

Does Miles Bridges have a chance of going top 3 if he improves his handle and shot next year if he returns? It really seems that he might return.

Really? Michigan State could be a serious contender then. Winston, Langford, Bridges, Jackson and Ward would be a great young core and a very balanced team. It probably means that Bowen will not come, though. But I'll only believe it when I see it, thus far it seems to be just a rumor/(informed) guess.

A shot, yes. Porter is tough to beat out and I would rank Bamba higher as well going into the season but this might just be personal preference I guess. Then there's Doncic. He can go higher than everybody else provided he improves some and nobody else really explodes and if one of the above disappoints or does not declare (although Porter definitely will) the spot is up for grabs. Remember he's not much older than most freshmen as he just turned 19.

Could Simmons leaving+Romar swing Duval towards committing w/Zona? Kansas is out with Graham back+Newman, so it could come down to Zona w/Ayton pursuing him and Duke.

I'd still go to Duke probably, more of an NBA system, better shooters, Zona doesn't really seem PG friendly to me.
Gonna guess Trier is gone and Rawle comes back, they might get Brian Bowen too, between them and MSU, I guess if Rawle leaves too, that might make Bowen go there.
