MJ could actually play at a high level consistently at both ends of the floor and was actually a superstar. VC was hyped up due to his dunking (perhaps the athleticism is where the comparison comes from) and never even cracked top 5 MVP once in in his career let alone an All NBA 1st team. Such an insult to the GOAT lol
I do see what you mean when it comes to Odom and Barnes. They both posses high basketball IQ and can play on both ends of the floor (have no idea what DKB964 is referring to saying that he couldn't defend). Given the way basketball is played now and the situation Barnes is in in terms of usage, it's actually a really good comparison!

I suppose I may be misrembering Odom's game. I never thought of him as a defenive player, but I may be incorrect.
Another clueless poster on the VC era.... no wonder Raptors realgmers are so clueless....
VC was a top 5 NBA scorer for a decade playing on a team of g league scrubs and still carried them. Top vote getter for allstar game one year and the only superstar this franchise has ever come close to seeing wearing a Raptors jersey, except the one year rental...
Another poster with a nostalgic bias acting arrogant when they don't know what they're talking about. He was only top 5 in scoring 2 times in his career (#4,5) despite averaging over 20 shots per game and the reason he was able to do that and was due to his usage stemming from your so called d league scrubs. Where is top 5 for over a decade and why did you mention this when it was clearly not true?
You mention carry, carry to what the 2nd round? 45 wins? Your expectations for a superstar is low. Superstars play defense . He was top vote getter due to his dunking, no doubt exciting to watch but he was empty calories. Let's not get it twisted, his career highlights and top moments are dunks. Ok maybe that 1 series against the sixers where he had a bunch of 3's (which is bias due to me being a raps fan, to the rest of the league it was just another series) but another true superstar at the end of the day outshined him and he lost.
Not a winner
Not a team player
Not efficient
Average to below average defense
No all NBA 1st teams (superstars normally get awarded this at least once in their career)
Only 1 all nba 2nd team and 1 nba 3rd team. Yes he only made two all NBA teams.. guess who else has done this as well? (Lowry and Derozan... oh sorry Derozan made 3 all nba teams 1 better than Carter)
No all defensive teams
NEVER top 5 in MVP voting, heck not even top 10 (another typical thing associated with a 'superstar') PLEASE name 1 player that was a true superstar with his usage that never made it to top 5 in MVP voting in his career. NAME 1.
You overrate him my friend.
