This is a pretty easy yes. I don’t think Scottie will ever be as good as Giannis, and I like Scottie. And I think Giannis wouldn’t mind coming here as long as Masai is around. I can actually see this as a possibility.

Gianass would be easier to build around. His time is up in MIL, we need to capitalize on this if he were to become avalible. Instant contenders right of the bat, the East is always open.
Boston won’t be able to afford their core team, Cleveland and knicks aren’t any dynasty teams to worry about. All the superstars are out West. Masai needs to capitalize on obtaining another future star like he did with Kawhi.

We'd be (allegedly) "instant contenders right off the bat" because Giannis >>> Barnes, so why would MIL give up Giannis for Barnes and filler? Just because someone posts this hypothetical does not in any way reflect reality unless that reality includes us getting Flagg & he's part of the deal.

If Giannis asks out, there'll be a bidding war and teams like HOU & OKC, to mention just two with better talent than us & can outbid us. Masai's Giant's of Africa connection didn't help to try to sign him years ago. It's over and we should stop this Giannis dream once and for all. Move on.

Giannis has put in the time there to the point where they likely will do right by him and trade him to where he wants to go. Obviously our only chance of getting him is if he only wanted to come here, we aren't winning a bidding war. Nobody is saying this is likely to happen, only that we should do everything in power to try and make it happen if it ever became an opportunity.

I know it's been open season to piss on Barnes and some of the criticism is fair though I think judging anything on this waste of a season is misguided at best. Having said that, complaining about his contract is just idiotic because that's just confession to being plain ignorant of NBA's current economy.

Most of you guys have been ignorant about Barnes for the last 2 years but he's been so garbage for a big chunk
of the season it's undeniable.

We've played this game a thousand times with Bargnani, DeRozan, Siakam etc. where they fail to live up
to expectations or their contract and get moved and half the fanbase shoots the messenger. We get insulted
but we aren't telling you anything opposing NBA fans aren't saying. Some Toronto sports fans are such homers
they completely lose touch of reality.

Like I said, if you want to complain about his game, that is fine. You are entitled to your opinion and there are things he's done or not done this season that warrants it. But contract is the contract. There was no way to avoid paying that given what he's done the last 3 years and to think it's something to "get out of" or that there'd be any kind of difficulty to trade it if they decided to go another direction is beyond idiotic.

There were quite a few skeptics about the Barnes and Quickley contracts around the league. I believe Masai
or Bobby said they were betting on him because of his work ethic. Also teams aren't gonna be lining up
to trade for a guy who can't average 20 ppg with his horrid shooting numbers on a max contract especially
if you want value in return. I don't think our fans realize how much Barnes has hurt his stock this year. There
is only so many Nicos in the league to bail you out. We need to stop coddling Barnes and get on him to stop
being so stagnant and even regressing at times our franchise future depends on it.

There are some rumblings about Morant. Would you guys do Morant for Scottie+Dick (or Walter)+picks.

There's some risk with Morant but I'd do it.

If Memphis is in a position where theyre trying to trade Morant, its because his value would be in the dumps like Kyrie in Brooklyn. We could get him for IQ + Dick + pick in that scenario but we don't play around with guns in Canada like he does lol.

No. Giannis can't even hit a high percentage at the ft line. Didn't we witness Kawhi taking him to school a few years back?? Guess peeps forgot lol Scottie > Giannis

If Giannis wants out, unless he demands to come to Toronto, the best package we present will likely be beat by another team. Houston as an example has a good array of assets and contracts to make a really appealing offer.

However if Barnes+ and picks gets it done, sign me up

Scottie + 2025 pick + future firsts is as competitive as anything any team can offer.

I would do this trade for sure, but we would need more shooting in that case.

Our not having guns is a bonus for his perception around the league, I think…
I believe in Masai.

I dunno, we might have differing ceilings on Barnes

Giannis + Lilliard
for
FVV / Brooks / Sheppard / Jabari / Amen

Plus Houston pick collection is much nicer than ours, with some PHX picks upcoming that will be juicy.

They clear off Dame’s contract, bring in 3 enticing rookies, flip Fred and Brooks for value, and HOU can offer a bunch of picks if needed.
