If Denver's smart, they won't trade for Kidd. That team (Kidd, Iverson, Melo, Camby, KMart) won't win a championship. Plus, they'll be in cap hell.

Actually, I can't think of a situation where trading FOR Kidd makes sense. He's not even close to the player he used to be and his contract is bloated. Dallas would be making a grave error if they traded Harris in order to acquire Kidd. Actually, if they could somehow keep Dirk, Harris, Howard and Terry while dealing for Kidd, then that would make sense to me. Of course, that wouldn't make sense because I don't think Dallas have expiring deals they could use as cap ballast... and Brandon Bass isn't getting a deal done.

I agree that Denver shouldn't trade for Kidd. Dallas should though. He's still got it imo, his deal only goes 'til '09 (they could save money getting him!) and Terry/Harris are both overrated. Give one of them, maybe Diop and someone else and do it. Dallas is on the decline and needs to make a run soon.

I still wouldn't give up on Harris. Sure, his jumper is broken but he's lightning quick and plays pretty strong on-the-ball D.

Plus, he's young. Kidd, while still effective this year, is done soon. I wonder how he'll do with giving up his alpha dog status when it becomes clear he's no longer a top tier lead guard.

I think Dallas has to look at Miami right now: is one championship worth the sacrifice? If they think they can get it done with Kidd and that it's worth the cost, long-term (an opinion I obviously don't share), then I think they make the move.
