We've been playing Bosh at the 5 the stretches where Andrea plays well. This goes back to the good games that Andrea had earlier in the year where he was exclusively playing the 4. He has had to guard the centre and as an effect, hasn't had to anchor our defence. Rather, its Bosh that is playing the 5 right now and anchoring our defence. Thus, from what I've seen so far this year and last year, in order for Bargs to play well and Bosh to play well together, Bargs has to exclusively be the 4 and Bosh has the be the 5.

Don't people worry that this will have a huge toll on his body of the course of the rest of the season, if not in the future?

Bosh has also be electifying on offense lately. He's barely taking jumpshots, getting to the line like crazy, and playing a lot more in the post.

Having Bosh at the 5 and Bargs at the 4 on offense seems to be working well. They're both scoring well and both creating opportunities for teammates.

As to the defense comment, I don't think I agree. If Bargs takes the best post player, and Bosh worries about roaming around and protecting the rim, it will not only play to both of their strengths, but it will reduce the stress on Bosh's body.

Offense: Bosh in the low-mid post, Bargs at the top of the ark / high post
Defense: Bargs takes post guy, Bosh looks to protect the rim

Who cares what numbers we put beside them?

I don't think its true that Bargs ALWAY takes the low post/inside player. Bargs always takes the 4. Against big low post centres, he gets abused. Against Bogut, for a breif time against Haywood (Bosh took him most of the time because of this), Eddy Curry. That was the reason he was getting in so much foul trouble. When we switched Bargs to taking guys who are PF like Blatche or Odom, is when he started being able to stay in the game.

By necessity, Bosh had to take guys like Haywood, Turiaf and after Bargs foul trouble, Bogut. Just because they are not huge low post scoring threats doesnt mean they dont bang and push for position and rebounds on any play. It will take a toll on his body banging away with these guys.

If Bargs is guarding the 4, since when can Bosh just roam around? He has to ensure that he cuts off passing lanes to his man on the help and still make a good effort to block/alter shots. This more energy expenditure on every play for what we are requiring him to do now then say if we had Rasho next to Bosh.

a lot of the fouls he gets called for are the ones where hes trying to muscle them from behind. really ticky tack calls. i wouldn't say he gets abused. when i watch him trying to defend them, i don't see anything out of the ordinary that would warrant fouls though. maybe he's a little excessive with the pushing.

How effing scary is that Pick and Roll? holy ****!

I mentioned that in the PG thread....and it's not the first time they ran that play. Very impressive indeed.

If you look at Bargnani's by position stats on 82Games there's only a 15% difference in his per48 PFs. I'll take thsat with a large grain of salt for three reasons:
1. Because 82Games can be a little dodgy on positional stuff
2. Because there's no difference between the PF and C in a lot of the Raps sets - so positional info tends to be very subjective.
3. Because I have little faith in Per48 stats.

Still, with those caveats in mind the difference isn't that huge. I guess if you want to define the positions strictly by who the guys guard on the defensive end that might change the anaysis some, depending on how 82G defines the opposing positions.

Call that 'memories of stats', rather than the real deal if you like (and because I know that supersub15 is watching and he'll report me to the ABPR police for using Per48 stuff :D )

Yes he's been having good games, but I still don't feel any different regarding bargs yet. I need to see a lot more before listening to the complete praise he's been getting the past few games. I mean, take it how ever you want, but miami made boston scrubs look like MVP candidates.
