Perception is everything, but, it is changeable. Many great athletes were once perceived as failures, but saw it as a challenge to change it...even Michael Jordan. Franchises, like people, can change how they are perceived by challenging it head-on...instead of being a coward and going under-the-knife, so to speak.

Positivity and drive my friends...it's a game changer.

TorontoRapture,

My wanting to change the name is as much a need for a fresh start as it is me absolutely hating the name since it's inception.

I couldn't believe when the votes came in that the name RAPTOR won the contest....like people honestly!!! It has to be the most (Please Use More Appropriate Word) name, mascot, vision for a team and colour scheme (red, purple, black) like what is that.....

I wanna have something I'd be proud to wear....not a dino on my shirt hehe.

The Raptors have easily the best mascot in pro sports. Check yourself son!

Huskies would be a nice name for the team and keep in the tradition of Toronto teams with the blue and white colours.

For those who want a dinosaur as their mascot please give your heads a shake....this team has done nothing to make us want to remember the past.....fresh name, fresh team, fresh start.......and most importantly the right way from the get go.

Choosing the Huskies is far worse, it represents failure and racism. A team of whites only that played just one season with a 22-38 record 67 years ago. You can't be serious wanting that name and maybe you need to give your head a shake.

Don't worry guys, I got this.

The maple leaf is there because it is required by legal law. The basketball is white because it's made of snow. The team name has been changed to Toques because no one else knows what the word means. If we want this to be Canada's team let's not halfass it. You're welcome.

Work In Progress - Raps logo update v.1

Post#107 » by goodjoey » Fri Jun 14, 2013 4:08 am

hey so i know that everyone has their ideas, but i've started to take this new logo thing a bit more seriously and have been working on some new ideas the last couple of nights. This is my first version of what i think can be a cool update. Im not thrilled with how the raptor head came out, wish it were more fierce, but again, still just a work in progress. Let me know what you think, and if there are any ideas you think can help make it even better.

Enjoy :)

jersey designs coming tomorrow:) stay tuned!

I like the logo, however maybe the Raptor face could look a little less cartoon-y. The rest of it is fantastic though and the claws are bad ass.

head looks a bit like a skull with a baboon's nose. And is it grinning? keep trying.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Nice! Clean looking design. Is there a way you could make the raptors face inspired by the Raptors mascot?

*Edit* Actually, after having Googled "The Raptor" for a visual reminder...I rescind my request. It was a bad suggestion.

HEY WHAT'S THAT BESIDE YOU?!!!

...leaves thread quickly...

lmao I actually like the logo. Just get rid of the leaf and it's a 10/10 logo. Has a nice retro throwback look to it.

Too cartoony, but I like the shaded red effect. So used to solid colours for uniforms. Do shading for the whole uniform.

Think you might find it easier to make the head look good on a side or just slightly side view. But overall I like the concept...

sooooo, now the huskies is a racist name? all of the teams back in the day had all white players. guess they all must be racist too.

that is a pretty bad post, and that is saying something. congratulations.

OBILIC1389 wrote:In reference to an earlier poster who mentioned aside from VC, TMAC and Damon leaving we were off to a pretty good start..........yeah great start, our best 3 players we've ever had all became disgruntled and left the team......fantastic....

And that's why I said "aside"......

I was referring to the home run draft picks that were made & the product on the court.

From 1995 to 1998, here are the draft picks that we made:

1995 - Damon Stoudamire (7th pick overall)
1996 - Marcus Camby (2nd pick overall)
1997 - Tracy Macgrady (9th pick overall)
1998 - Vince Carter (swapped 4th pick for 5th pick)

Hell, even our 21st pick in 2000 ended up being a pretty good one in Mo Pete.

Our first 4 years in the league we pretty much made home run draft picks. We drafted a very solid PG that won rookie of the year, a C that went on to win defensive player of the year in his career, a SF that was a multiple allstar & scoring leader, a SG/ SF that went to multiple allstar games & at one point was the most popular player in the world.

We also brought some very well respected veterans here & were one shot away from making the conference finals.

Since that era, what have we really done? Our draft picks have been terrible for the most part or we traded them away. We made it to the playoffs twice, but both were quick first round exits.

Since our T-Mac/ Stoudamire mid lotto picks, what have we come up with? Araujo? Villanueva? Derozan? Ross?

Hopefully Jonas turns our luck around.....
