Can't get too excited until it actually goes through, but my god this would be an amazing move!

??

We can waive Salmons for the cost of a million and Prince is making 8 million I believe. Prince is a terrible basketball player these days

Its a good deal but Prince is not better than Salmons in anyway

Except for on the entire defensive side of the court. Prince can still defend at a high level.

I don't see that at all. Lowry's situation is independent of this. I think we'd be just as happy to draft Napier at #20, and one of them is very likely going to be available at #20.

Not really - Lowry will be the starter but he really needs a back up PG. Lowry can't keep playing heavy minutes like the does (got hurt for the playoffs, but still played)> GV may go, but Casey likes using GV as the SG, so that may take care of itself.

but taking on this contract, doesnt it shove us in the corner a bit when trying to get these guys back in free agency (Pat too). Prince and Fields contract almost amount to like 14 mill.

Just updated - it would be the 37th pick, not the 59th. Not as sweet, but I think it's still good if they really like someone.

Maybe, we trade up to #8?

IN A HEARTBEAT. SO FAR THIS IS THE BEST VALUE FOR JOHN SAMONS I HAVE HEARD OF SINCE THE RAPTORS FINISHED THE PLAYOFFS.

I'm sure Masai Ujiri is still exploring other possibilities to see if he can get better offers. If nothing else occurs then take this and run immediately. We would then have draft picks #20, 22, and 37. I really want Damien Inglis and we can make that happen with #22.

Patterson might be gone. Don't see us paying him the money he deserves on the next contract.

Toronto has Bird Rights resigning our own players just involves staying under the luxury. FA require cap space or contracts

On the court he definitely is. I'm not talking about the cap hit, just basketball.

They are about the same

Prince TS% .438 WS 1.5 PER 8.2
Salmons TS% .462 WS 1.7 PER 7.8

If this goes through, Masai Ujiri will have landed two first round picks in a stacked draft for Andrea Bargnani and John Salmons.

What does Bargnani have to do with this?

The #37 pick was the pick we got from the Knicks when trading Bargnani.

IMO, this trade would get another pick, as they likley have a few guys they've come to like at that range and at the same time provide defense on the wing. I think this would be about both taking Salmons contract and addressing a need at the sf spot, and getting an extra pick to address other needs. Remember Masai once said if you're going to have guy on the end of bench, have them be young guys you can develop and turn into assetts
