Ya because they've solidified our Center position, which isnt our worst position on the court BY FAR or anything lol. I like Precious and maybe Koloko becomes relevant in the nba one day but relying on a dude who is G League material at the moment is foolish.

This was like saying we didn't need Fred during the Bench mob because we had Delon and Lowry ahead of him. Stockpile talent and let their play dictate what happens.

You cant stockpile maxed out players. There's only room for 2 or 3 of those guys and in the famous words of Scottie B, Ayton ain't him.

If Ayton was making old VV money (almost nothing), it would be a different argument but he doesn't, he already makes star money and he's not close to a star.

While I wish Ayton paid like 10M less per year, it's not outside the question of him getting motivated on a new team to starting earning that max deal.

I just don't see a lot of options for us if we are trying to get talent back in these trades. If we're only getting future picks 6 years out then might as well trade Siakam too and do a full tear down.

This is how i feel. Moving off of 2 of OG, Fred or Gary frees up a lot of cap flexibility. Plus trying to recycle or dump Birch, Thad and OPJ salaries.

There's room for 3 years of a bad(ish) salary on the team. Especially with the cap set to explode. That last year of Ayton might not end up looking all that bad.

Unless your center is a superstar like Embiid or Jokic, you should not be allocating $40m+ a year on a center

Ayton is making 35M. Fred will be looking to make that much on his next contract. OG will be looking to make 30M on his... it's a crazy world lol.

Ayton is making $32 this year. Overpaid for sure. But he is a solid center that is clearly dogging it this year and seems to have issues with Paul (Not unheard of) and Monty (legitimate concern since he seems like a very personable player coach). Not sure if Nurse would blow a gasket coaching Ayton either, but maybe he would pull a Vince and start really trying after getting traded. He was a great playoff performer aside from that game 7.

He's one of those players that clearly doesnt give it his all if hes not happy where he's at. That press conference where they announced his max contract he didnt seem happy at all.

Also similar situation was Wiggins before Golden state, although I think Wiggins wasn't as hot headed. But Wiggins really improved with some good leadership and they ultimately won a title, even though he was overpaid and previously had a lazy unfocused reputation

I'd take the risk if the trade involved VV or Trent. Not sure about OG though.
