He’s not a great fit, but Walker’s my favourite prospect outside of Wemby, Scoot and Amen. I think he’s got a real chance to be special.
I wouldn't say my favourite outside of those 2 per say, I do think Miller is such an ideal piece with Scottie (just makes me dream of also trading OG for Trey Murphy III & LAL pick buuuut I'll leave that alone). Miller's shooting & floor spacing I think is currently making him my favourite non Vic & Scoot pick BUT he is up there with Whitmore & Ausar for me.
I just absolutely love what he is defensively (seems very Draymond-ish) but yet is shooting near 40% from 3, shows some flashes of shot creation AND is a very underrated passer. I'd be beyond happy to draft him. Any of the previous names I've mentioned in this post & I'd feel like we damn near won in the lottery too, with Keyonte & Black being the other 2 guys that I'd still feel like it was all worth the rough year which is like 8+ players that to me I MUCH rather have than trying to senselessly go after a crappy PlayIn spot.
For me, Wemby, Scoot and Amen are a clear top-3 (with each having their own tier). I know a lot of people have Miller as the third best prospect in this draft, which is understandable— he’s climbed up to number 6 (and might end up #4 or 5) for me, so I understand the appeal.
Walker’s movement skills at his size are really, really impressive, and the touch he has on his floaters is extraordinary. I really like the shot creation upside, and obviously his defense looks like it’ll be elite. I think he ends up being one of the top-5 players from this class, but only time will tell.
Hey I'm with you on it being possible! I LOVE Jarace Walker as a prospect and tbh I think why I just have had the hardest time putting him over Cam & Ausar is he didn't come in with the same pre-college hype as the other two which I understand isn't really a fair reason not to lol. I don't even say that I necessarily think Miller is the better prospect, I'm just maybe too infactuated with the idea of putting shooters around Scottie to open up the court more ala GSW with Dray.
But coming into the college season I LOVED him as a prospect after I watched some vids of him at IMG when he had a bigger role offensively and tbh I couldn't understand why he wasn't considered a top 5 pick. But he also started out quite slowly & just blended in with the rest of the squad because obviously HOU wants to really compete & make the Final Four (if they do I think his stock will explode especially if he continues to do more offensively). But since he's been coming back on (pulling a Scottie lol), he's reminding me why I loved his game coming in.
What I'll say about him, is I think he is the SAFEST non Vic & Scoot pick that also has great upside. At worst you've added another ELITE defender that will help BOTH on the perimeter & at the rim that will continue to help spread the floor. I can see a world where if Cam's shot isn't dropping, he's not quite Okoro bad but not as good as you may hope & Ausar just may be a real LONG term project that takes a few years before you really start getting the results you hoped for. Jarace will be plug & play then you wait to see if he can show more of what he did at IMG at expand his upside offensively but I'm with you on TeamJarace (I've actually changed that in my sig now until Baba can shake some rust & show me he's the guy from the highlights & not just FSU Bruno lol).
