I think people really underestimate his potential. I definitely see a guy who can drop 20 PPG on a nightly basis in his prime (if he keeps developing).

He's really filling out well. We noticed last year how many times he would get bumped off balance on drives/layups. Putting on some weight will help in that regard and also allow him to bump his defender to make space.

And he showed a few times offensively, almost bully balling some guys that he won't be afraid to use that bulk. The good news is that the bulk is lean bulk, as he plays hard and will need to play hard to be effective defensively. Also, he's very coordinated athletically. Might not be the most explosive or fastest, although I'd rank him average in those categories, but he sure does have great coordination, body control and touch.

Yeah I think Gradey is a great athlete—he just doesn’t jump high. But he runs very fast. He’s extremely agile and coordinated. Good lateral quickness. Very quick first step. He just can’t jump (which is how most people who watch basketball measure athleticism for some reason). By comparison, a guy like Svi had hops but was a worse athlete than Gradey in every other metric.

Can’t wait to see how he has improved this year.

And regarding edge—Gradey is clearly VERY competitive, even if he looks like a happy go lucky kid from the boondocks.

Which is why I really like his potential as a scorer. His body control is quite nice, and he's very 'slippery' in the sense he knows how to contort his body to get around defenders. Once he learns to stop on a dime and pull up, he's going to be so deadly. He's a very natural scorer IMO.

Just a natural ball player. Very high processing time, very good feel and understanding of how to play within a team concept. You can see that in how he instantly moves off the ball once he gives up the rock, and how effective he is moving off the ball in general. I'd still like him in a 6th man capacity to start the year, as we need to stress defense to this kid, not to say that he lacks motivation in that regard, but him being an average defender will really bring up his ceiling. He seems to have the understanding, hustle, and fast hands, good instincts and his footspeed isn't even that terrible, but the lack of strength really hurt him and guys could bump him off easily last year. But, I do think he could be an elite off-ball offensive player you can run actions for, but maybe not necessarily an Iso player.

The tough thing with this roster is just figuring out, who is going to make us respectable defensively. Between the coaches and young core players, only Scottie really has proven he's above average there and he's being miscast as a perimeter defender when he should be more of a roaming 4 type. This core will not be the core we eventually try to contend with because of that reason, but hopefully we can play some exciting offence this year.

So happy this kid was able to put on some weight. We gotta turn him into our Klay, curling, running off of screens, relocating, deep range to extend the defence, BBIQ, one of my fav young guys. I need him to become angry now, a killer, less jovial, not that I believe it's a hinderance to begin with, just an edge needs to be added.

I still don’t like how far back he cocks the ball on his jumper. Lot of volatility to be had in a jumper like that. But maybe he keeps up with how he ended last season?

I like it actually, he looks like he's literally shooting/throwing it in the net. On the corners he's more vertical with it

Surprised we didn't get much pics/videos from their mini camp in Spain. Thought they would make more effort to show what the boys were up to. I am curious as to who showed up (and who did not).

Gradey looks way more filled out and I like to see the elevation on his jumper. If he adapts to playing with contact more, he could be dangerous playing with more force.

I don't get it. That guy on twitter said Grady is not in Spain but in SF, but then there's a pic of him at the team dinner in Spain.

Who knows. I just hope he keeps shooting the lights out like he did to finish the season.

And that Scottie has more off the dribble in the half court.

And that RJ keeps hitting shots.

That IQ continues improving his pnr decisions.

That Poeltl stays healthy.

That one of the “other guys” breaks out.

Haha, other than Gradey and BBQ, I really don't see a whole lot of hope for any of the other guys to break out at all. I mean, I'll be happy if Ochai can just be the same guy as last year but actually hit shots at a decent clip. That wouldn't be breaking out though. Same thing with Davion, maybe he averages 7 and 3 assists off the bench for us with some great D and becomes a nice backup; Once again, not necessarily breaking out.

And then, the rookies will be rookies. Might get lucky if JaKobe finds his way into the rotation at second half of the year. Maybe Bruce Brown can have a bounce back year, and we can trade him for a high 2nd round pick.

Love the optimism though; I don't mean to pee on your parade! I just hope the guys improve and play with heart and enthusiam all year.

Haha when I say breaking out I mean “just be playable”. We just need these guys to hold leads, which our bench could not do last year as soon as Barnes or Poeltl wasn’t on the court.
