From an overall effort standpoint, I do think the current Siakam is unmotivated out there compared to his normal self. Too many times he's not contesting shots, not boxing out and generally missing assignments on the defensive end. This situation to me looks like the last year of Chris Bosh in Toronto where Bosh mailed it in because his head was already in Miami.
Oh, no question. Even a usually positive guy like Samson Folk has suggested that Pascal, like OG before the trade, is "quiet quitting". Focusing on the offensive numbers to the exclusion of spending any effort on defence. It's no accident that our last fairly impressive game was the loss to the Clippers - with Pascal not playing.
The 2009-2010 season was a strange one for Bosh. He totally bulked himself up and was racking up the rebounds like crazy. He was an all-star again, and the team was actually in good shape going into the trade deadline. So trading Bosh wasn't an option. Then, after the ASB he got hurt, then he broke his face with a few weeks to go, and refused to come back with a mask to help us slip into the playoffs. Lebron didn't help by playing against us in the final week of the season, while resting against a competitor.
Then that summer he completely shed his weight (and stopped taking the 'roids, I assume) before starting with the Heat, and became a stretch 4/5. The perfect complementary player. What Bargs should have been.
