Scottie's scoring almost exclusively right now on feel, touch, effort and physicality. Hard to imagine he can consistently score 25+ on only those things. Skill-wise, he has much work to do - but it's the kind of development that's very very doable. He's not exactly a fluid athlete, but I love that he leans into that on the timing of some of his push shots, really throws defenders off.
Haha what’s interesting is that what you listed are the reasons why I think he will have elite scoring ability (mind you, I don’t think he’s gonna have elite scoring volume but he will be able to takeover stretches of games when needed). He is scoring off his intelligence and physicality right now—imagine when he adds skill behind that in a few years. He’s gonna be unstoppable.
There are a lot of guys in the NBA who can dribble and shoot. Most of them aren’t elite scorers. That’s because they either lack the feel and/or the athleticism. The guys who are elite have both feel and athleticism to go with skills. Scottie being the worker that he is has a high probability of ending up there imo.
Kawhi has shown one path to being an elite volume scorer without a million moves in your bag. The big difference is that he has an elite jumper - it's a tall order to get there, even with a lot of work.
And Kawhi can get to his spots, which is its own talent/skill.
