What was the bidding war like for Lowry last year? There is a lot of revisionist history going on right now... It would seem absolutely NOTHING was offer for Lowry at the deadline last year from those wanting to run spin on the front office's ability to "get something" in return for Lowry...
With that being said, why on earth would we assume that a lesser player in Dragic @ 19.5m will have any sort of value at the deadline without taking back an even worse deal?
Even if he doesn't go at the deadline he is a 19+ mil expiring.
You say that like it's 2K money... If I were writing the checks, my eyebrows are raised heavily at this deal... If Miami was going to sign Lowry into their cap space regardless, it's not like Lowry really needed the favour, right? As a result, Masai just paid 19.5m allowing Miami to keep their MLE to sign Tucker, just so he could get the rights to Achuiwa. That's a BIG investment to make to get your hands on the 20th pick from last years draft.
Dragic at 35 years old has ZERO value to this team and it would seem there isn't much interest in the market for him. Dragic is a sunk cost who will be likely bought out at some point this season, if nothing gets done before training camp.
