I think the opposite. I think there’s more of a chance we tear it down than give him an extension.
Oooo. Now that would be something. We really suck at tanking though I hate it now always disappointing.
Sunk cost fallacy has been killing us for the last 4 years. At some point Bobby and the FO have to realize this isn’t working.
We overpaid IQ.
We overpaid BI.
We overpaid Poeltl.
We’re going to have to double down and overpay RJ if they want to keep this core together and win. That’s like 90% of the cap being allotted to 5 starters who don’t even fit together that well.
That leaves us no room for a competent bench and us in the luxury tax for a team that probably won’t win a single playoff series.
This roster is built for instant gratification but is it built for the long term success? I don’t think so.
I agree. At the same time, we have a history of overpay, which I refer to as the Canadian tax... the cost of playing North.
I can't think of a good player in recent Raptor memory... except NORMAN POWELL, who was a fair or better value contract... All overpays... That will continue.
Raps management has rarely timed things to extend a player on a great value and see that player exceed the contract value... We pay as it they are superstar already, lol like IQ... then get angry when they don't play to that level...
We hold on to scrubs too long (I.e. Flynn)... and now, likely Dick... instead of cutting our losses and replacing the roster spot with value players ... imo.
I said in summer MAMU would be the best FA value hire in years... one good signing.... unfortunately only 1 year ffs...
I support extending RJ... as he is a quality talent who also wants to stay here... they fked up with NORM... let's see what they do now....
