he has playing time. he just wants to do more in those minutes. aka not stand in the corner on offense.
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.

Nets definitely could use GTJ if he’s on the block

Fred VanVleet to the clippers for Terence Mann, Amir Cofee and Luke Kennard

Scottie Barnes / Terence Mann
Gary Trent Jr. / Luke Kennard
OG Anunoby / Amir Coffee
Pascal Siakam / Chris Boucher
Precious Achiuwa / Thad Young

Somehow our team is better with more depth

We used to just trade just for the **** of it. The pendulum has swung the other directly, completely.

The thing is, I was pretty pissed every year we ran it back with Demar. Their patience ultimately worked out for us getting Kawhi so maybe I’m crazy. I just can’t watch this team anymore. Haven’t been able to watch them since lost Marc and Kyle.

Kawhi just became magically available though. It was a perfect storm. If kawhi wasn't they probably run it back. That's the problem though. You cant just keep holding on to these guys hoping and praying some disgruntled star that perfectly fits your team becomes available in a trade. That never happens. Need to be proactive this time around.

If the Kawhi trade didnt happen, the team was still stacked with talent which had been accumulated and developed over time. Siakam was on the verge of a massive breakout and they still owned all their 1st round picks. Good situation overall.

Starters
---------------------
Kyle Lowry
Demar Derozan
Pascal Siakam
Jonas Valanciunas
OG Anunoby

Bench
---------------------
Jakob Poeltl
Serge Ibaka
Norm Powell
Fred VanVleet
Delon Wright

Raptors definitely need to be careful of any Rudy Gay type trades (addition by subtraction +depth) if they're planning to tank

Sounds like a potential deal post Kyrie trade, which would make more sense anyways

It was probably involving Raptors in a 3-team trade with FVV....didn't work out

That reads to me like they had a potential trade lined up outside of the Kyrie deal

That was great team but no different than the years prior... why? Because just like now, contenders start from the top. Derozan was not the guy and we would've kept running the same system to cater to him. That is a good team but it would not have ever won a championship and would've eventually had to be broken up. There were a few playoff series where our offense was completely shot, siakam, Lowry, fvv, etc etc were all doing nothing and kawhi had to be the entire offense for us. Demar wouldn't have been able to handle that. Kawhi being available and ths trade being made was the best thing to happen to that team.

I was saying years prior that we had a p2rfect team to build around a superstar just no superstar. When we got one it was over. This version of the raptors is not even close though. Need way more talent, and the team sucks. It's not on the precipice of contender status it's a bunch of moves away. And the leadership from the top is piss poor. Like I said the fact people need fvv in this role on this team is an issue and the team needs a culture reset badly.

But for real! This is my biggest concern. The issues with the team are chemistry-related. Take away the malcontents and add solid role players and that just screams needless winning streak.
