Aside from JHS and Bronny the Lakers really know how to draft
Do they?
Ball over Tatum is a miss
Ingram over Brown is a miss
Dlo was meh for a #2 - hard to blame in a garbage draft though
Randle at 7 was a great pick
They really just have not made many draft picks in the last decade
Ball and Ingram still yielded them Anthony Davis who is a MVP caliber C so not all bad.
I still love their talent assessment. They found Alex Caruso and Austin Reeves who are both excellent. Reeves turned down a pick to Detroit to go to LA. They typically have the best facilities and trainers for their players because who isn't in LA.
Guys like Max Christie and Talen Horton Tucker were fairly unknown commodities who have has success in the league. THT might have a new home in Chicago.
They also drafted awesome role guys like Ivica Zubac, Josh Hart, Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.
I was really hoping for Knecht to fall to Toronto - he was a perfect fit, and a guy who I said could be the ROY this year if he went to a good situation. Not sure if he gets enough shots in LA, but he is was a no brainer where they drafted him.
