The thing is, if Barnes was a projected top-3 pick all season the majority of us would be over the moon with this pick from the moment Adam Silver said it. And for all we know Scottie was top-3 on the Raptors board all season. It's all about perspective.
Not really, you can actually see both guys and what they produced and the success they had with their teams and what not. It's not about mocks.

I refused to read all of it but pre draft someone posted advanced data pulled from a site with full breakdowns using charts etc that showed suggs and barnes being pretty comparable production wise so idk if that narrative is true

Where did you see that?

Idk, Suggs averaged more points, assists, rebounds, steals, almost had the same amount off blocks. If we up Barnes's numbers through Per 36 Suggs still has more everything except blocks (I think he has 3 less blocks than Barnes). Aside from pure stats, Suggs can dribble better and has better burst off the dribble in halfcourt.
One thing Suggs doesn't have is Barnes' size and that might help us in the long run in the comparison if Barnes develops better shooting and handling.

I mean, using that logic I could argue that Jimmer Fredette was 10 times the prospect Suggs ever was, but we all know that's not true.

Jimmer his freshman year in college put up 7 points, 2 assists and 1 rebounds. But if you're argument is Suggs could bust, I guess. I hope he does so we don't feel bad for not drafting him.

I wish nothing but the best for Suggs. I think he’s a stand up guy with a good head on his shoulders. Maybe thinks too highly of himself but who doesn’t these days. I was on the Suggs bandwagon cause this board convinced me. I trust MU over the general consensus of realm even if he gets it wrong.

I don't get the stance that some people have that Barnes/OG/Siakam can't coexist. They're all very versatile and have pretty varying styles of play. The thought of the Barnes/OG/Siakam trio with FVV wreaking havoc on the defensive end is extremely exciting to me too. Not sure who that 5th player may be right now, but that has to be a top defensive lineup in the league.

Because it's a drop off in talent level after 4. With that being said I'm rooting for Barnes now and hope he proves everyone wrong.
