Make the 5th year only half guaranteed. Or make it a team option maybe.

According to league sources the Raptors are comfortable going to $11 million for four years. The real decision will be what they want to do with the fifth year — an enticement they are the only team in position to offer as Lowry is a returning free agent.

Undoubtedly Lowry is holding out for a full fifth year, pushing his deal to $55 million.

11 million is fair. That's always what I thought would be the price. Personally I'd give him the 5th year if push came to shove but 44 million is fair for both sides

That's a bargain... I was expecting 5-$60 mill. with what Gortat got. I'd happily give him that for a 5th year if that's what it takes. He'd only be 33-34 years old... and that last year with a $11 million expiring is actually very valuable in the trade market.

I wouldn't give him the 5th, take 4 or thanks but no thanks.

Exactly. 4/44 is a over payment already. I wanted to give Lowry 3/33 or 4/40. The fact that he's getting a 4 year deal at 11 mill is great for him. If that 5th year is what's stopping him from signing then so be it. No way should Lowry get 5 years.

If Grange is right, the most Houston can give Lowry is 10 million and at that price it would require us to do a S&T in order for Houston to get him. He's getting a extra million per year here and he's in a better position. Only way i'd give him that 5th year is a team option.

I wouldn't be surprised if he waited it out until one of the big names (Melo, Lebron, Wade, Bosh) made a decision

I'd stay away from year 5 but 4-44 is fair to me. He'll be 32-33 when done and shouldn't be slowed down too too much.

I honestly wouldn't mind the sign & trade for Parsons and then make a move to get Bledsoe. That kid can flat out ball. His intensity on D is exactly like Lowry's and plus you can't say enough about his athleticism. He's much younger so that is also a plus. I hope to god that Masai at least contemplates the possibility of getting Bledsoe.

Exactly. Bledsoe is a young two-way player with athleticism that allows him to play above the rim. THE MAN'S NICKNAME IS BABY LEBRON!!!! Hopefully Lowry wants to go to Houston, do a sign and trade for Parson and whatever we can fleece from them, and go after Bledsoe with money and Ross as a trade chip. Rather not trade ross but I'd want to see Bledsoe in a Raptors jersey more.

I'd rather have Dragic than Bledsoe. Actually, I'd rather have Dragic than Lowry, too.

But the dynamics would be the same. If Lowry decides to sign with Houston, of course.

Best-case scenario would be a sign and trade for Parsons, then go with Vasquez for a year. We would NOT have the cap space to make a big offer to Bledsoe if we get Parsons.

We then use our hoards of cap space next year to make a huge offer to Dragic. Something like 13-14M per for 4 years. And then Amir would be expiring, so we can make a big offer to Millsap.

Yeah. 5th year should be off the table unless it's a team option. 4/44 is fair but its a bit of a over payment. 4/40 would of been fair but Masai give him a 11 million offer because no other team can give him that much.

Houston can give him 10 million at most and even that would require a S&T on our part which we would never facilitate. As far as Lowry slowing down, i'm not worried because his game resembles his mentors (Chauncey Billups).

Lowry's game doesn't rely on athleticism so I think he'll be fine for a few years. Mid way into that 3rd year or that 4th year is when we'll probably start seeing him decline which is why that 5th year is a no no.

Best case scenario, he gets a 4/44 deal and declines in his 4th year while being productive for 3 years. That will be good return on the contract because he'll be an expiring in his last year and we can get back some assets.

4/44 is fine, but like others have said, the 5th year shouldn't be on the table. Like I said in another post, we should be saving that 5th year for a player like JV when his rookie deal is over.

Why can't Lowry just sign the dotted line man, we are a fragile fanbase.

I like the 5th year if its partially guaranteed.. Say 3 mill

Gives Lowry extra money and if things go bad at the back end of the contract he has a contract that has good value for trades regardless of how he is playing (ala the salmons contract)

I kinda get the feeling that Lowry coming back, just a matter of his agent playing it out to get most money...

Miami is full of sheep dung. They do not have 12 mill for free agents, its just posturing, as is the interest in Lowry. They drafted Lebrons pg, and will be giving Lebron the Max. Bosh and Wade are going to take small discounts... Not the 12 and 11 mill that is being floated out there right now.

Houston is dangerous if Melo signs with someone else, but that is not going to play out anytime soon. Melo is going to do the full free agent tour... LA is in same boat, they can't commit to spending big coin on a second tier star until they know which way Lebron and Melo go.

So if Lowry makes decision in next day or two I think its us... If it drags out over a week, start worrying about Houston
