Lets just trade Demar for Barnes and then package our pick with something else to move up and grab Beal.

Dragic
Beal
Barnes
Bargs
JoVa

Success! 8-)

Having three players in your starting line up that have never stepped on an NBA court is not a good move to win now. But it is a good move for the future. Colangelo would never do it lol

I would predict 18 pts 6 rebounds on a weak efficiency because he seems to be pretty in love with his midrange jumpshot game. He took a lot of fadeaways and "fancy" shots in the games I watched.

Ell Curry brought up a comparison yesterday I like and have used before - I could see him being a SF Nick Young type. Young to me is pretty smooth and can shoot but doesn't have quite the speed or explosion to be an attack the paint player, so he ends up with a lot of herky jerky jumpshots. More intelligent version of Young maybe. I see Barnes having a better career than half the guys taken top 20. My problem is I can't buy the upside like some other prospects

He only looks fluid because he moves so slow.

I always thought of Barnes' athleticism as functional athleticism meaning he makes good use of his athleticism and applying it in games. He's not the off-the-charts type athletic freak that would make you jump out your seats when he's alone in an empty gym. But you've got plenty of high-flying guys out there, but they can't translate that athleticism in games. Whenever I hear Barnes is a grounded athlete, I just don't see it. He's got a great core which allows him to contort his body in air space and maneuver mid-air adjusting to the shot-blocker without getting his lay-up altered or avoiding the charge. How many times did Barnes even get stuffed at the rim this year? He's not the type of athlete who needs momentum on the move either in order to gather himself to take off the ground. That's the difference between a two-legged leaper and a one-legged leaper. Barnes got that instant "pop" in his vertical -- how fast he's able to jump. And I think a first step is overrated for a SF. LeBron James himself has said his first step isn't even that great, but it's his second step that's devastating.

“My first step ain’t never been that great. It’s my second step, that’s where I’ll get you.”

So, when you add it all up, you've got a good ball player who's able to make good use of his athleticism unlike many other who cannot harness it. The game of basketball is about making good use of what you have and actually doing it in games which Barnes does.

Young to me is pretty smooth and can shoot but doesn't have quite the speed or explosion to be an attack the paint player, so he ends up with a lot of herky jerky jumpshots. More intelligent version of Young maybe.

The smaller paint in college basketball could be attributed as to why Barnes didn't put the ball on the floor a lot. And it didn't help that Tyler Zeller and John Henson who are useless outside of 10-feet always camped down low along with their defenders didn't exactly open up the floor for the dribble-drive.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

What the? You just took a 180 degrees turn on Barnes now? You went from anti-Barnes to this, unbelievable.

I'm just hoping teams fall in love with PJ3 and Sully so Barnes can fulfill his destiny as a Toronto Raptor lol I also gotta say that if we somehow fluke into drafting him then I hope we try to get him to trim back down a little bit. Personally he seemed a bit quicker imo but maybe I'm off...

these are pretty good dunks considering his athleticism is negatively perceived by the haters as "weak hop". I want more Barnes pre-draft workout, more!

If he slips to 8 I think its safe to say that the Raps draft him and then have to hire an industrial cleaning crew to get rid of the gallons of jizz they spew all over their draft room.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.
