Celtics better be doing everything it can to get KD. They'd be extremely hard to beat if they were able to get him. I don't think they will make the same mistake they made in 2018 when they didn't pursue Kawhi. That decision cost them a championship.

If they gave up Smart, it would be a brutal mistake.

This. I was trying to think back to which guys Masai has drafted and subsequently traded since he got here in 2013.

I think the only two are Jakob and Delon.

While this looks good to me, I feel this is not how Masai would do to build a team. He prob prefers rookies or sophomores that our scouting team likes, instead of half-a-decade-long option contracts

agreed, but looking at the market. outside of the pelicans its going to be a draft based trade.

a draft-picks based trade helps the tank this season too, but I don't call the shots

And what if KD doesnt want to stay on a team with Simmons and Spencer. You can choose to believe what you want, I just dont think the package BKN got for Irving is convincing KD that Brooklyn is where he wants to be for the next 3 years.

BKN will get more value before the news of KD wanting out comes out either soon or in the summer.

The Nets as constructed are not beating Celtics or Bucks, and KD knows that. This is his legacy we are talking about and no way he wants to finish his last days with the Nets. People are all acting like Irving got traded for Luka and Durang should be happy.

So youll keep KD when he is disgruntled and his value continues to plummet. You can choose to believe Kd will shut up and stay put with Ben for 3 years but i choose to believe he will force his way out, he has already tried in the past, and he wont have any reservation in the future.

Why the hell does anyone think the Nets would give up Claxton? Not only is he their only Center but he's young as hell. Like it makes 0 sense for anyone including in him in anything lol.

Because all they'd have to do is swing that Dallas FRP to San Antonio and they can bring in Poeltl to replace Claxton. In playoff terms, Claxton is an easily replaceable part.

I think if you just tell all the teams that are in "we're going to make a decision on X player by this time tomorrow, have you best offer ready", teams will do just that! lol

About only way I'm feeling like this is fine is if he really is trying to get all the best offers to clean house. Then I could somewhat understand perhaps you don't want teams to second guess a move with you based on public reaction to the first one but if this turns out where it's just one trade (or none at all) just get it over with already.

Smart is an excellent defensive player and a steady playmaker who doesn't turn the ball over. But he's an awful shooter. Celtics will try to keep him but I don't think they will let him prevent them from getting an all-time great in KD. Jaylen Brown plus loads of picks probably gets it done. Maybe Nets get greedy though and ask for Smart too but with less picks.

Because the first (sell) move will cause loss of leverage on subsequent trades, as it signals to opposing teams we finally decided on selling (this core)

Collins and Capela have very little value around the league. That's not enough to get Simmons, Claxton and a FRP. Nowhere near enough.

It's a seller's market so I can understand waiting a little longer. Plus I dont see many sellers either. Raps are in a good spot.

During the Tampa year Masai just kept Darryl on the phone and he had to bail and ended up with George Hill Hopefully he does the same here with Marks. These guys are our rivals. They don't have much to offer, when they should be having to pay a premium. Just keep KD from launching his trade request and flip OG to the West.
