Much better to grab the guy we want at 3 and enjoy developing him under team control than trade for a soon to be very expensive 2nd banana.

Why is he very expensive? He didn't even make all-nba and isn't likely to next year due to the new rules making all-nba positionless. Seriously when did Siakam somehow become overpriced? He'll be making 40-42m/year which is just fine for his skillset. Did you think you could pay a 2nd option 30 million?

Time to be realistic JRoy.

I agree. I think Pascal's next contract will be reasonable for the reasons you mentioned, and because I think his next 3-4 years will be his best. Yes he just turned 29, but he had by far his most well rounded season last year. Because he entered the league at 22 years old, he has only played 471 regular seasons games, which the number of games someone like Paul George has usually played by age 26/27. His timeline fits well with Dame's timeline.

I think Pascal's efficiency would take a huge jump with him not being the #1 option. There were nights he was forced to take a ton of tough shots because Nurse's offense was a mess and he was the clear #1 option. This resulted in bad shots, but they were ones I am sure he would've preferred not to take. I do not think it is unrealistic for him to average 25 / 8 /5 on good efficiency (60% TS) as a 2nd guy, which is worth $40 million when you factor in that he is a super switchable defender who gets to the free throw line and is a beast in transition. He was at 23 / 8 / 6 on 56.5% TS this year in a garbage offense on a team that asked him to play hero ball most nights.

Looking forward to seeing what Siakam can do this year in TOR.

Fair? I think it's fair.

Siakams max will be close to 4 year $193mil. Closer to 50 million a year not to far off from the Beal contract that has 4 years $207 left on it that everyone hates. Yes Siakam is better than Beal but thats a lot of money for Siakam.

No deal will be done with portland, we overvalue our guys and expect gobert type trades for OG or Siakam.

JRoy, what’s your sense Re: Portlands real interest in Bam vs an “F-you” to all the Miami based “Now that Beal is off the market, the Heat will turn their attention to Dame, who they always really wanted, by way of their amazing Hero, Robinson, the #18 pick and a bag of Doritos offer”?

Lol - you seem like a smart poster/person.

What I simply don’t understand is why you want to keep hanging out on the Raptor board, where homerism runs continually rampant and objectivity and common sense are often severely lacking.

Besides - no matter how many trade discussions (rejections?!) occur here, precisely *zero* of them amount to anything based in reality, anyways.

So…what’s the point?

Paul George might be attainable but why would you want him? At his peak, he's better than Siakam but is he going to play? Not to mention older and paid more

I would much rather go for PG or Adebayo and strike out than Siakam/OG.

I don’t think the POR FO gets either preferred choice and hopefully folds for the rebuild.

Paul George? The guy who can't stay on the court or show up when it matters?

Why have Playoff P, when you can have Spicy P! :D

I think POR is going for guys that are unavailable so when they get a “No thanks POR lol” the FO can claim they went after high impact players but failed to land them.

Maybe Lillard asks out at that point. We are all ready for that by now aren’t we?

Looks like we have a stand-off

I think Dame wants to leave but he doesn't want to be known as that guy that demands a trade. Especially when all he has preached while in a Blazers uniform was loyalty and wants to be known as a 1 team guy.

On the Blazers front, they obviously want to appease Dame but realize that even if they make the trade to flip #3 + Simons and filler for Pascal or even Zion they are still going to behind Denver & Phoenix and at best in that second tier of teams with the likes of the Kings, Lakers, Clippers and Warriors. Scoot or Miller are amazing prospects to hit the reset and paired with Simons and Sharpe is a nice little core to build from.

That said I do hope that Masai can somehow convince them to go all-in with Pascal :D. Going into next season with OG, Barnes, Pascal and possibly Poeltl would again would be torture. As long as Pascal is on the team, Scottie will never realize full potential.

Dame needs to just man up and ask out. We all know this Blazers team isn't going anywhere unless they're getting Jokic or Giannis on the squad.

Looking more and more like Portland keeps their #3 pick to force Dame's hand.

Portland can't trade their pick until the player is drafted anyways because they owe next year's lottery protected pick to CHI.
