DDs defense sucks.

I want to start with,
lets prove Boogie wrong. We hate DDs defense but we cant talk about because it will get locked (
im scared guys, those nazi mods hate DD discussion).
Here guys, all I see is any time someones critical, they are a hater. If we talk JVs bad defense, we have to talk DDs. Here it is, let us rejoice because now you got your wish because I guess ppl were too afraid or lazy. JV lovers and hater unite for this noble cause. Since the JV one was a salaciously thread title, heres another one.
That is ugly.
Among 227 players in the L that have faced >= 150 DFGAs, hes 28th worst in DFG% differential.Edit: Forgot on/off (the dreaded one).
The DRTG gets 11.1 points per 100 possessions better with him off the court.Fortunately, the volume against tempers its effect abit.
Ill leave the game night breakdowns, gifs, etc.. to you fine denizens. What say you?

What else is new? Derozan will never be a true star until he cleans it up defensively. At least now he’s above average offensively to somewhat offset it but still

Fair, but his defense is trash, always has been. Been saying it to PurpleTrees for yrs.

Oh I agree with you 100%. People on this board get way to caught up in offensive contribution and completely ignore how badly he **** our defense up. It’s actually amazing how bad he can **** it up as a 2 guard.

36th percentile isn't sucks, it's below average. Far from terrible, it's mediocre. His offense way more than makes up for it. Under 20th percentile is sucks, under 10th percentile definitely sucks, 36th- I'll take that from Demar.
It should also be pointed out that he's rarely covering the other team's #1 option so on the surface that seems like a bad thing, but in reality it means he's being focused on far fewer times so his percentages will suffer. If there's a switch where he's guarding the #1 option then he will be exploited a lot, or defensive breakdowns/back door cuts, etc make up a higher percentage of his defensive possessions.

I'm running on so little sleep because I needed to wake up early for Star Wars, and I swear I'm missing something, but the stats make it look like his defense is decent. On the rating thing it even says it's average overall. The area he struggles in the most, PNR ballhandler, could also be argued that a lot has to do with Jonas dropping back so low and leaving the guards on an island.

Wait a second, this is my thread bro. We are not talking about JVs defense.
His DFG% is terrible. The reason hes so low is because while being decent vs SpotUps, most of his volume comes from that and its generally one of the higher OPPPs against so his overall DPPP is high. In short, he faces alot of SpotUps which inflates his overall DPPP.

While hes good on the weakside, one of my least desirable traits about DD anecdotally is when players drive into the key, he dives to sag (fine), but is so lazy on the closeout. I absolutely detest it (see MIL play above). Sag all you want, but get back in the play, run the guy off the line (which he does on occasion), its just too infrequent.

Yeah, he's not good. Fortunately he plays a position where we can generally "hide" him on the opposing team's lesser dynamic wing.

In a way doesn't this make things worse...ie he's giving up a lot of points per possession vs a guy who's not even an 1337 scorer anyways. And also, we're not able to hide him if he's putting up horrible defensive statistics...its a sign we aren't compensating for his weakness, no?

Actually they are usually the efficient ones the SpotUps, not creators.
Among our players, only players Pascal is guarding,
have shot at higher avg 3PT%s.Hes also the least attacked Raptor per min, per Synergy.
His defense is pretty bad though.
