Let's put it this way, I think there are two main reasons why the Jazz effectively let Booze go and went after Jefferson.

The first is that they think Booze is as good as he will ever be and will not be able to take the Jazz any further than he already has. Is Booze a better player than Jefferson right this moment? I think he is. However, the Booze that just left Utah was a much improved and refined player than the Booze that left Cleveland.

The second reason is that Booze's finesse post game has trouble against exceptional length, while Jefferson's power post game does not. While Booze is probably more effective offensively against 80% of the NBA teams, it's the other 20% of the NBA teams the Jazz needs to get by to go deep into the playoffs.

Can Sloan work his dark wizardry and get Jefferson his 6-year max S&T deal with NY in three years? It may be worth paying money to find out.

I thought Hollinger pretty much nailed it: younger guy, shorter contract, better fit to play 5 for half his minutes.

Why would he be mad? Leaving MN, a horrible team, that is loaded with C/PF's to a sold organization that is in need of a new leading big and has a great supporting cast, top pg, and a great coach.

Excellent post. It was surreal watching the Jazz up against the Lakers in this year's post season. I rate both Booz and Milsap as offensive players, but they looked completely powerless against the size of Pau and Bynum.

Worth a shot, buying low on Al.

In this KoC interview he mentions talking to Al and he is excited to be playing for a consistent contender.

Seems like Kevin has to grovel at the feet of the Millers.

As a Rockets fan ...Al is the last person I wanted to see in a Utah uniform. His highlight real on Yao is epic. I think he averages 30+ against us, and is the only person who can post up and legitimately rape Yao in the post(even the rare times Yao is 100%). Great pick-up for Houston Vs. Jazz match-ups....we love to hate you guys and it would have sucked not to see yall grab a bigtime 4 or 5 to keep our little miny rivalry going. I guess screw you guys! LOL...meaning...nice pickup! :D

Wolves fan here..You have just recieved one of the top 3 low post scorers in the league..He doesn't draw many fouls, but his footwork and pump fakes are unreal.

I'm calling myself a Wolves/Jazz fan now..can't wait to see Al with my favorite PG.

Shout-out to all the magnanimous extra-Utah fans (Wolves fans in particular). While I enjoy some of the bitter exchanges with Blazers fans, this is a welcome change of pace. Hope we can take Al to the place you think he's capable of going!

It's nice to not have to defend the board against wolves fans, they are good people.
